3 Free Add-ons For MarketPress – Additional Flat Rate Shipping Options, Store Styles, and Layout Shortcodes

One of the things I love best about the WPMU DEV support community is that members are always helping each other out and sharing solutions to problems. After working with MarketPress on his own sites for a few months, one of our members was kind enough to release some free add-ons to the community.

We thought we’d share them with you, since MarketPress just got a big update yesterday and we’re steadily gaining more users.

You can download the free add-ons from our forum and use them with both the professionally-supported version of MarketPress from WPMU DEV and the free plugin in the WordPress.org repository. Here’s a quick overview:

1. MarketPress Grid Layout Shortcode

This is a little plugin that adds a shortcode called [mp_product_grid]. It has all the same attributes that the original [mp_list_products] shortcode has.

2. A new MarketPress Store Theme

This MP theme uses the same CSS3 buttons/styling that the guys from WooThemes use, which is great for anyone who’s using a WooTheme with MarketPress. You can see it in action here: http://thebutterflycircus.com/store/

Essentially the styles change the “buy now” and “add to cart” buttons, as well as the basic layouts of the products in the store and the accompanying MarketPress widgets.

3. A new flat-rate shipping plugin

This MP shipping plugin allows more options for shipping internationally. Currently, there’s only 1 box to add extra shipping per item. This plugin allows for more options — handy for when shipping prices vary wildly between different countries.

Our developers are looking into incorporating some of these features into the MarketPress plugin in future versions. In the meantime, enjoy these free add-ons!

  1. Hi Nick, nice plugins.
I installed all three according instructions but apart flat rate ones, nothing appear in MP 2.1 and WP 3.1.3.
No grid shortcode in shortcodes list (anyway I built a page with shortcode and different parameters but unsuccessfully) even if the plugin is activated and in plugins folder.
I tried also de/reactivating both plugin and MP.
The theme is in right position and appears correctly in dropdown menu but, being free version it’s impossible to select and activate it, may be better to copy code in icons css?
Did I missed something? any suggestions? I really want use these in one MP site.
    Thanks in advance

  2. I know this is pretty old news now, but I had to create a couple additional shipping options so I built the attached two files… in case anyone else needs them. One is for flat shipping to the individual states in the US. The other is for flat rate shipping to the US split up into 6 zones.

    (1) Drop the PHP file into the /marketpress/marketpress-includes/plugins-shipping/ folder
    (2) Visit Store Settings >> Shipping inside your WP dashboard. The “Flat Rate US Zones” and “Flat Rate US States” options should show up in the dropdown box.
