Automatically Add Users to Sites Across a WordPress Multisite Network

When navigating a WordPress multisite network, it’s important to note that users of one site are not automatically made users of other sites across the network. Ordinarily, users have to complete the regular registration process with each site they want to join.

Mika Epstein, otherwise known as Ipstenu, is a prolific multisite plugin developer. She recently released Join My Multisite. This is a brand new plugin that makes it easy for users across a multisite network to join each other’s sites. After network activating the Join My Multisite plugin, each site admin will have three new options for new memberships on their own sites:

  • Auto-add users – any time a logged in user visits a site, they will be automatically added to that site
  • Have a ‘Join This Site’ button in a widget
  • Keep things exactly as they are

Have a look at the settings page:

In addition to the new membership options, site admins can also automatically assign new members a specified user role, using the dropdown menu on the plugin’s settings page.

The membership options determined by this plugin are also available through a widget that each admin can easily drop into any widgetized area of their WordPress theme.

If one of your site admins has registration turned off, this plugin will not affect that. Visitors will not see the ‘register’ button.

As the network admin, you may understand the ins and outs of how WordPress multisite networks work, but visitors more than likely have no idea, especially if the sub-sites are well connected and themed to be similar to one another. They may not understand that they are not automatically members of the other sites. That’s where this plugin is very useful. It lets you eliminate that point of confusion by giving site admins the option to automatically add new visitors as users. Another benefit is that it helps to prevent your networked sites from getting too fragmented and isolated from one another. Download Join My Multisite for free from the WordPress plugin repository.

  1. Mika is absolutely wonderful. I don’t know how many times ipstenu has saved my kosher bacon. But, anyone running multisite knows there are real challenges integrating content and users between sites. In out of the box WordPress multisite networking, they really behave as separate sites except for a common set of themes and available plugins.

If this plugin works, and I’m assuming it will because of Mika’s past record, this is one cross site issue solved. Many thanks to Ipstenu and to you for finding and posting it.

    What is Pagume?
When does pagume recur in the tropics?

I was asked the above questions and answered as follows:
    i) What is the tropics? The tropics means part of the globe found between tropic of Cancer and tropic of Capricorn. It covers about 26.11% (=94˚/360˚) of the total earth. It covers 94˚=( 0˚to 23.5˚EN+156.5˚to 180˚WN+ 180˚to 203.5˚WS +336.5˚ to 360˚ES).It is sometimes called hot part of the earth. It is known by shorter variations of day and night, and faster rotations over a year.

ii) .Why does the tropics remain undiscovered?
The tropics remain undiscovered, because both use of Ethiopian calendar months only in the current Ethiopia and Gregorian calendar months in the tropics are unrealistic. Use of Ethiopian calendar only in the current Ethiopia is unrealistic, because the circumference of current Ethiopia cannot cover 24 hours (half part of Ethiopia is day and other half part is night). Use of the Gregorian calendar months in the tropics is unrealistic, because longer variations of day and night and extreme seasons of the temperates which are revealed by the Gregorian calendar months were/are/will not recur in the tropics.

    iii). What is Pagume?
According to Ethiopian calendar of the tropics 365 or 366 days of the year divided by 12 equals 30 and remainder 5 or 6 days. These remainder 5 or 6 days are called Pagume. Pagume is 5 or 6 faster rotations of the tropics, when 6 to 10 or 11 of September are slower rotations of the temperates.

iv). When does pagume recur in the tropics?
Pagume does recur in the tropics after the recurrences of 12 months of 30 days (at the end 360th days) for series of 5 days when the year is ordinary ;i.e., year of 365 days and for series of 6 days when the year is leap year. Moreover,Pagume does recur in the tropics, because 6 to 10 or 11 of September does recur only in the temperates.
