Will You Buy the Official Nivo Slider Plugin?

One of my favorite things in the world ever ever ever is the Nivo Slider by Dev7Studios. I’m frequently using it for different projects and think it’s pretty much the best jQuery slider out there. And now, Dev7Studios have released their own WordPress plugin. Here’s what they have to say:

The official Nivo Slider WordPress Plugin allows you to combine the beauty and elegance of the Nivo Slider with the robust and familiar content management of WordPress.

Without touching any code you can create multiple sliders that can be included anywhere in your posts and pages and customized using the familiar WordPress backend.

Of course, we all know that are one or two Nivo Slider plugins out there already but, to be honest, I’ve never really found any of them to quite do what I need and have always ended up using the code. The plugin from Dev7Studios comes with these features:

  • Create an unlimited number of sliders
  • Shortcodes for including sliders in posts and pages
  • Manually create sliders, use post thumbnails or sticky posts
  • Auto-crop and fit images
  • Powerful yet simple slider customization pages
  • Drag and drop ordering of slides

But this comes for a price – and the price is $15. Personally, I think that’s a steal for such an awesome tool and it gives back to the guys who made the plugin in the first place.

What do you think? Will you be buying the Nivo Slider Plugin?

  1. I’ve been using nextgen gallery with JJ NextGen JQuery Slider for about 6 months now on multiple sites. Same thing as nivo but its free and uses the nextgen gallery manager for it instead.

  2. Saw your post. Bought it :). Thanks for the info. I’ve been using the regular nivo slider on wp installs, and static sites. They deserve my money for this plugin.

I know there are other plug-ins that are free that accomplish the same thing. But the nivo slider was revolutionary. Well… Maybe I just think so.

  3. Just bought it – looks like they raised their price to $15 though. Does anyone know if you can add links to the slides with their WP plugin? I didn’t see an option for that, but maybe through custom coding?

  4. Used it heaps int he past and so bought the plugin for a site I built a few weeks back.

Was really happy with it and so now am buying the $100 dev pack so I can use as much as I want. For me its a small price to pay for something I use in a heap of sites.

It has one or two bugs, but I’m sure they will be ironed out.
