Hello, I have been using Events Manager Pro (http://eventsmanagerpro.com/) for around 2 years. After switching from WP Ecommerce to Marketpress in April, I no longer have access to the menu items for Events Manager Pro from WP Admin. I can only see them when I disable Marketpress.

I did disable and test all other plugins and this is the only one that creates the problem. In addition there is one other plugin where the menu disappears as well but I never use it. With Events Manager Pro I add and change events a few times per week. This is becoming very tedious to disable or work my way around the issue.

Is there some way to make them both work together so I can access the admin menu for both? I can get around the code, but am not a real programmer to figure this out or make a hack for it.

Thanks

HI Guys,
I know that you don’t support 3rd pary themes but maybe you could please advise which functions from template-functions.php in which order should I use to draw products list on my home page like the default store slug "MYWEBSITE /store/products/” grid does with pagination links, and Categories and Sort order combo boxes?
I've read and followed Themeing MarketPress guides and looked through template-functions.php but still can't figure out which code should I call to make my products appear on my home page the same grid style and pagination and sort field as they do on the url slug "MYWEBSITE/store/products/".
I use 3rd party theme and a grid layout plugin shortcode but products still appear as a list like the ordinary posts on the home page.
I can use CSS to re-arrange them but it wouldn’t add pagination, Category filter and Sort fields like the default Marketpress slug"/store/products/" draws on my site.
Here a snapshot of my home page as is: http://i40.tinypic.com/33towlf.jpg
And here is how I want it to look like the default page under slug "MYWEBSITE/store/products/" on my site: http://i41.tinypic.com/x51ksx.jpg
Appreciate your advice as I’m far from being a developer.
Thank you!

hey, i'm trying to create an etsy like store where people can create their own store and post their services. on my main site, right now people can see all my products in a grid format, but i want them to see the users store instead and possibly the prices inside.
if a store has multiple services they are offering, i want the client to see the store owner rather than their products. is this possible?

however, if this isn't possible, is there any way the client can differentiate which product belongs to which store owner? right now, all i see is product title, a picture, price and buy now button. but i want the client to see the store owner too, and possibly a small bio inside the grid.

thanks

OK.. I am probably beating a dead horse, but I have only seen threads about a year old and nothing recent. When I first inquired about marketpress i was told that global shopping cart and chained payments were the answer to a main site, with sub sites each selling products. One check out for all stuff up to 10 stores, and I could take a % fee through chained payments.

Now that I have payed for a membership, i have marketpress multisite, gridpress, framemarket. However it appears that i cannot use global shopping cart with chained payments.

I have tried a workaround that was posted, but couldn't make it work. Please let me know if i should simply quit trying and move on, or if there are a few things that I could try...

I definitely need multiple downloads per product in MarketPress. E.g. several songs in a music store belong to an album or a collection.

I studied the plugin and found it is possible with an afternoon's work to build it in. Here are the steps to do it:

1a. The idea is, to store in the mp_file field of a product not one, but all URLs you want to include in the product.

1b. So you have to make the field bigger on the screen to show all these URLs (one at a line)

1c. To do so in file marketpress/marketpress.php you change the input text field with name mp_file into a textarea with 100 cols and 7 rows

1d. In the same file search for update_post_meta( $post_id, 'mp_file' ... ) and put some code in to transform the lines from the input field into a string, where the URLs are separated by comma. This avoids any problems with newlines interpreted as spaces etc.

Now we have several URLs stored in the mp_file field of a product.

2. Whereever the mp_file field is used to generate an URL for downloading one product you change the code so it deals with several URLs:

2a. in marketpress/marketpress.php change the function get_download_url so that it returns an array of URLs (and not a single URL). To make the URLs different from each other I decided to add a GET parameter (named "file") with the number of the URL in the array. This way it interferes the least with the existing method of identifying a download with the product.

2b. In the function serve_download you have to ask the GET parameter "file" to find out which URL to serve for download.
This function also checks how often a file was already downloaded. This is more difficult to implement for each of the URLs of one product - it means extending the data structure of $download array. I decided against it. Instead of I test if there has been more then (max_downloads * number of files for the product) downloads. That means each file could be downloaded the maximum of permitted downloads (or more, if another file is downloaded right away on the first try).
When the file is served marketpress generates a filename for it. To make a different name for each of the files of one product you have to add the number of the file to this filename (search for sanitize_file_name).

2c. The confirmation email must have download links for all files of the product. This is added in the function filter_email.

3. The order status, which can be inspected on the store web page contains the download link. The code for this has to be extended so all download links for all files for one product appear.

3a. There is a file marketpress/marketpress-includes/template-functions.php where you can find useful functions for themes. Searching for "Download" leads you to a table where the link is printed (if the order is paid and the download limit is not exceeded). There you have to make the same adaptions as described above for computation of the download limit and for generating the download links.

4. It should also work with your theme, shouldn't it? I use the child theme gridmarket of FrameMarket. The only way to get it really working with this theme was to change the file framemarket/library/functions/marketpress.php (I could not figure out how to do this in the child theme): Search for a table followed by an "if ($order_paid)". There you have to add the max download test and the generation of the download links - it is the very same as you might have done in the template-functions.php file.

That's it. Screenshots of the result you can see in the first answer (can still not figure out how to include pics in the opening post).

I have to clean up the comments a bit and migrate completely to Marketpress 2.8.1 (I started in 2.8 with it). Then I can give the files to whoever might be interested in this (not before friday).

Hi there,

Yesterday I posted in the forum, contributing to another user's question. The fact that there's a new version of Marketpress (2.8) out as of yesterday suggests that perhaps there could be the multiple download options per product... but I can't seem to find it in the software. Is there any chance you'd be able to tell me if this is in the current version, if it's being developed, and if so, if I'm likely to see it in a week, month, or year (or even beyond that).

For the reasons spelled out below, it's critical to at least know what to tell my client, as Marketpress is definitely what I'd like to recommend to this client.

Thanks.

MarketPress is one of the best shopping carts for WordPress because it is easy to use and integrates well with WordPress but it's missing some basic features. For example:

1) The ability to specify a minimum order quantity for a single product or the total shopping cart,
2) A grid layout shortcut for products,
3) The option to completely decide what is and isn't in the navbar menu,
4) A built in slideshow to show off products,
5) The ability to connect related products for automatic display/recommendation,
6) Option to set special offers such as 'buy 2 get one free' (I know coupons can be set),
7) Facility to set multiple product variation combinations to make it easy to list one product in several colors with multiple sizes e.g (large, medium, small)*(yellow, green, blue) top,
8) A way to customize whether the 'Buy Now' button is shown or not regardless of whether a listed product has variations.

Will any of the above features be added to MarketPress or are they already there but I've missed them?

I love the plugin but sometimes I just wish it had a little bit more oomph :)

I'd like to see the coupon feature further developed to allow:

+ Coupon codes for specific products.
+ Coupon code for specific categories.
+ Coupon code for groups of products (a buy 2 get third free or 50% off cheapest, sort thing)
+ Coupon code for specific customers
+ Coupon code for specific WP Roles

+ Allow for customer groups which specific coupons could be given and mailed to.
+ Customer levels could be assigned to Supporter levels in the forth coming version, thus supporters could be offered larger discounts. Same could be applied for membership plugin.

+ Auto apply coupons to certain purchase, combination of products, etc. This would be great for deals like buy 2 get 1 free or spend over X and get 10% off.

MarketPress could be an excellent market place for events, hotel bookings, campsite bookings, tickets etc, etc. being able to take a deposit would be an amazing upgrade. With this in mind the scope of your product could be opened up to many more industries and potential uses thus more interested people on your membership. :-) (better options for coupons could help in this instance, as a there could be a deposit coupon which can't be used on other products)

Hi gang,

After having used MarketPress for several months, I've written several add-ons, or helpers, and I'm making them available to the community. These are all developed for MarketPress ver. 2, so make sure you upgrade first!

If you use these add-ons and like them, please consider clicking the "Say Thanks" button above. I'm trying to get to 1000 points. ;-)

1. MarketPress Grid Layout Shortcode
This is a little plugin that adds a shortcode called [mp_product_grid]. It has all the same attributes that the original [mp_list_products] shortcode has.

TO INSTALL:
(1) Unzip and drop the /marketpress-grid/ folder into /wp-content/plugins/
(2) Activate the plugin like any other in WordPress
DOWNLOAD HERE

2. A new MarketPress Store Theme
This MP theme uses the same CSS3 buttons/styling that the guys from WooThemes use (great for anyone who's using a WooTheme with MarketPress). You can see it in action here: http://thebutterflycircus.com/store/

TO INSTALL:
(1) Unzip and drop the CSS file (and the folder) into the /marketpress/marketpress-includes/themes/ folder
(2) Visit Store Settings >> Presentation inside your WP dashboard. The "Skyrocket" theme should show up in the dropdown box.
DOWNLOAD HERE

3. A new flat-rate shipping plugin
This MP shipping plugin allows more options for shipping internationally. Currently, there's only 1 box to add extra shipping per item. This plugin allows for more options -- handy for when shipping prices vary wildly between different countries. More info in this thread.

TO INSTALL:
(1) Unzip and drop the PHP file into the /marketpress/marketpress-includes/plugins-shipping/ folder
(2) Visit Store Settings >> Shipping inside your WP dashboard. The "Flat Rate Intl" theme should show up in the dropdown box.
DOWNLOAD HERE

It's my hope that in case these add-ons become popular that they might be wrapped into the core of MarketPress eventually.

Cheers!

I have a client that would like to sell products via her website. Up until now I've only used MarketPress Lite since all my clients didn't have any existing payment systems. This latest client has an existing account with Moneris and a POS system that she likes. I've done some searching and I've found a couple threads that mention creating a custom gateway for Moneris is possible. However I haven't been able to find any documentation, forums, etc that detail this process.
