Ok, so as I said TOS is only designed to be fully functional in those 2 signup contexts. It appears somehow it's also appearing in membership plugin form, not familiar with how it's doing that. I'm asking @Barry to comment here on that.

Hope you had a good weekend.

The register-2 page (which I have now changed to register) is the page set in the membership plugin.
I have to disable the assigned page in buddypress and set the registration to none. When the page is set the user can register to the site and also the terms box works fine. But the user is not prompted to choose a subscription!

So when I disable the assigned BP registration page the user is able to chose a subscription and signup but the the Terms box does not function.

WHat is the register-2 page?

This plugin is only designed to work on wp-signup.php or the Buddypress register page. I'm surprised you are getting it to even show somehow in another place.

thanks for the link, i have checked on your site, and confirm the issue there, looks like it works on the wp-signup.php page,

however something is wrong on your subscription register-2 page.

i'm not sure if this is a compatibility issue with membership plugin, so I will flag the developer on this for some feedback.

I have just quickly tested this on my test site & deliberately didn't tick the tos box, i wasn't able to register.

Currently the user is still able to register even if not ticking the agreeing to terms box.
Is there a way to make it possible for the member to be forced to tick the box before continuing?

it doesn't require buddypress, sorry for the confusion, i merely mentioned i was using buddypress.

however, the correct sign up page to use would be

http://www.example.com/wp-signup.php

It's a single site WordPress install. The usage tab says that it's single-site activatable.

I am not using BuddyPress... the changelog indicates that BuddyPress support was added, but never says that BP is required.

can i ask if this is a multisite or a single site install.

it doesn't add it to the wp-login.php page as that's part of the core.

on my site it appears when I use http://www.example.com/register/

but I have buddypress installed & membership

I've installed the plugin, activated it, and added my TOS in settings.

However, during registration, users are not presented with the TOS. Not sure what's going wrong.

Hello.
I have a multisite network. There I would have to use a TOS (Terms of Service). To that I use your plugin "Terms Of Service". But is there a standard letter which you can use as starting? Usually it is indeed a very long letter and it can one not write themselves. Or what?
I am new to this area so is quite plank.

Thank you for the additional input and sorry for the delay which it appears this one got away from me a bit in the back of the ticket system.

Being new to WPMU DEV you may not be aware until now that each product has a home page and a usage tab.

The home page gives a description of what the product benefits are, what platforms it is compatible with, and the usage tab gives instructions and in some cases a full blown manual available for download.

When visiting the home page of the Terms Of Service plugin in the right column one can check that the compatibility for this plugin is MultiSite and BuddyPress and therefore not compatible with your solo WordPress installation and that is the primary reason your installation is having trouble with it.

Therefore the only options at this point are to either remove the plugin completely ~or~ to make your site a MultiSite or add BuddyPress which I personally prefer avoiding BuddyPress due to its complexity and complications that arise from bugs to integration issues.

On a side note, you may want to check out the Auto Terms of Service and Privacy Policy plugin which appears not to have this restriction to MultiSite or BuddyPress.

I'm afraid at the moment, this Terms of Service only works on a BuddyPress and/or a multisite install of WordPress and not a single WordPress blog, sorry about that.

Hi there,

I activated and put my TOS content in the box and clicked save. When I go to the register link for my wordpress blog, it's still the default wordpress register page. Does this plugin only work for multisite/buddypress?

Is there any way to activate it for a single wordpress blog? Thank you

Do you know of any plugins that can do this? I've installed the WPMUDev Terms of Service plugin but I don't think it can force returning users to accept the ToS.

This functionality is not available in this plugin out of the box. However I found another one which can do the trick for you : http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/terms-of-use-2/

I have not tested it on the latest version, so will advise you to test it on a lab site before you go live.

It says

Existing users and those added in the admin will also need to agree to the Terms and Conditions on their next log in. After the terms are accepted, users are presented with a fully customizable welcome message to help them get started using WordPress.

I would also like to have some custom text on the register page that users had to agree to specifically that wasn't buried inside a ToS or Privacy Policy that most people don't read anyway.

I would put that as the first point on my TOS and make it Bold. Even if the users do not read that, I am not legally bound as I am displaying that while signup.

I have a WP MS (3.5.1) and BP (1.7) network with a main site for WooCommerce, one child site for BP functionality and currently one child site for blogging.

I would like to add a Privacy Policy, Terms of Service and Medical Disclaimer policy to the site and force all of my existing users to agree to it when they log in. And, of course, any new users who register would have to agree to it as well. Those who have already agreed to it would not be prompted again. Do you know of any plugins that can do this? I've installed the WPMUDev Terms of Service plugin but I don't think it can force returning users to accept the ToS.

What we are working with there:

WordPress 3.5.1?
MultiSite or Solo?
Buddy Press 1.7?
Which is the theme name?
What is the URL to the page where this is happening?
