I'd really like to see you come up with something similar to the Canvas theme from Woothemes, as I think you could really do something with this.

If you could have a single theme that is responsive, but can easily be changed with some CSS, then come out with new child themes for it at times, that would be a great way forward.

+1 I want to be able to say to clients that all their content is formatted for easy viewing on mobile devices. As is, in such cases I've had to go with the basic twenty-twelve theme, rather than the ones I like here. And even highly customized, I'm not that happy with how it handles certain mobile situations.

That page is not a complete template. The way we get the page to use your themes styling is to use the current themes page.php (or whatever it uses for a Page) and replace the content of that template with the output from page-my-classifieds.php. So there is no header, footer , sidebars etc. That comes from your theme.

If you taking over the whole thing you'll need to write your own routines. You can use ours as a started but you'll have to wrap it with header sidebars etc from your theme.

Hi,

This person didn't respond to this ticket, but I am trying to accomplish the same thing. I copy the file /wp-content/plugins/classifieds/ui-front/general/page-my-classifieds.php
to /wp-content/themes/pagelines-template-theme (the theme directory). Without making any changes to it, if I load that page on the frontend, there is a plain white page with no error message. If I delete the file from the theme directory, the page immediately works again. Am I copying it to the wrong place? Please let me know of any ideas...thanks.

I have read there are ways to fix it but I hate timthumb so I just update the themes that use that pig of a script to use WordPress post thumbnails instead and save myself and headache (timthumb doesn't work right when using W3 total cache either.

@Idevguy How do you replace timbthumb to use psot thumbnails? I am having trouble with a theme and images !

Greetings,

The original poster of this thread is no longer active.

However, this thread is very valuable due to the contents thereof and the tips within.

I do want to add to this though and then close the ticket.

Many themes cause great grief because of the way they were designed by the theme developer. These themes include Genesis, Thesis, Salutations (one of the worst) and many theme forest themes.

The developers of these themes do not give a dam about your plugins or integrations, they just seem to care only about sales of the theme, that it looks good, and once you bought it you own it.

Once again, many do not care about MultiSite compatibility nor plugin hooks and flexibility. This is your problem.

Many members try to make the problems of these themes our problem and though it can be pretty challenging to support other peoples work, we still do our best but there is a limit.

You have no idea how many members using Salutations have cursed our plugins and do not want to accept it is indeed a salutations issue and not ours.

How many have gone to the Salutations forums and call them every name under the book for this themes design?

I just went to their web site and it appears they have dropped the theme, it no longer appears for purchase. Now isn't that special?

It appears they have dropped it themselves on there own site but still offering it on theme forest - enough said.

We thank you all for your input and information that you have supplied to this ticket, and for those of you with outstanding issues please feel free to create your own ticket and feel free to copy and paste any relevant information from this ticket into your new ticket.

Thank you all for being WPMU Dev Members!

What you do is copy the file in the general directory up to your theme directory and then edit the file in themes. The program looks through the available files and use the one in the theme by preference and fall back to the other files if it doesn't find them there.

Of course when you update your theme you may wipe the files as well so do a good backup.

If you look in Settings there is an option to copy the single file up to your theme and give it the proper name.

I've been trying to get the Classifieds plugin to look like my theme, but I'm not exactly sure how to. When I go into the Plugins settings, there are no theme-related options, so I presumed it inherited the look of the active theme and placed the content in the appropriately designated area where everything else goes.

Having looked through the plugin's directory, I see that the plugin is using files under the /plugins/classifieds/ui-front/general directory which contains various PHP files controlling the look of it. When I open them up and look at the top of the file, I'm greeted with...

* The template for displaying the Checkout page.
* You can override this file in your active theme.

My problem is - how do I override that file in my active theme? I thought I could edit them in the same directory, but I know when the plugin gets updated then the files and changes I would make will be overwritten. I've tried duplicating the files into my themes folder with no luck.

So I'd say I'm clearly missing something here and if anyone could help me figure it out, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks!

Greetings zehost,

Thank you for your feedback, it is greatly appreciated.

Though clearly have my own reservations and comments in regards to bundling, it is not in my venue nor mandate to comment on such subjects and this is certainly not a support matter.

However, I will move this to the feature requests area and alert the applicable powers that be to your feedback for their consideration.

Thank you for being a WPMU Dev Member!

Cheers, Joe

Well I'm new here but I have actually noticed that I have missed alot since I started using Wordpress because I was a WPMUDEV member.

It is really amazing how many plugins are available but the only thing I did not find is that none of those plugins or themes are bundled.

I have noticed that some plugins, come with other plugins integrated in it such as Popover plugin and Test Head Footer.

Why not have the same thing. In other words, it would be a good idea if the Premium membership plugin would be integrated with Friends, quick status, remember me checked, communities, avatar, signup code, messaging, and SO MANY more, this way the administrator wouldn't have to go through uploading and customizing every plugin to integrate it.

Same thing goes to the themes. All over the internet, you will find alot of themes that have certain plugin integrated in it same as mentioned above. One of the websites I am working on now, is actually a membership website and all the above mentioned plugins, well almost all the available plugin are actually great to use in it.

I am 100% sure that I wouldn't have hesitated for a second if the 1st time I saw the wpmudev, org website I found in the features list that this is available.

Hope that the person who is reading, reached the last line :)
