I suppose you could modify the plugin to look for a key or something appended to the request url.

Thanks for your feedback! Glad you're digging some of the feature upgrades.

I'll ask one of the developers to respond here as I haven't heard of this issue before. I'm a bit concerned about the continued development of the BuddyPress links plugin though. Doesn't appear to have been updated for awhile now and isn't marked as compatible with WordPress 3.0+ (not saying it isn't just that they haven't updated the information in awhile).

We have a need for SharePoint to access the main entries and main comments RSS feeds via a web part. We are using Sitewide privacy options for WordPress MU 1.0.1.

As expected, the Sitewide privacy options for WordPress MU plugin appears to be blocking access to these RSS feeds.

What is the recommended procedure for providing SharePoint or other platforms access to private RSS feeds?

I see that "Allow access to xml-rpc on private blogs." has been added to the Sitewide privacy options for WordPress MU plugin. Thank you very much for this. It will be indispensable after our upgrade.

We have noticed on WPMU 2.9.2 / BP 1.2.4 that the links RSS feed generated by the BuddyPress Links plugin 0.4.1 is not covered or made private. Can this be fixed or has it already been reported and fixed in the 1.0.2 release of Sitewide privacy options for WordPress MU?

Planning to test during our preparation for the upgrade.

You're using tdo mini forms with MU? How are you dealing with the "dummy" user issue?

Every time there is a comment in my community from an non-registered visitor, it get's attributed to my dummy user. Very annoying!

That line is only if you want to setup vip databases.

Firstly - does the database name shown in the error exist in your install?

i install wordpress mu 2.9.2 in my localhost.com (localhost - i give localhost.com only wordpress mu 2.9.2 install in my localhost. otherwise not install in localhost.)

now i install multi db 2.9.2 in wordpressmu. it show error. i attach my file and error image.

i give localhost and localhost.com in db-config.php. nothing difference same error show.

tell your suggestion please

Yeh, you're much more likely to run into issues if you use the auto-upgrade tool. There needs to be a flag you can set in wp-config to just turn that thing off.

I agree with DrMike.

I am against the automatic upgrade. I've heard too many horror stories ... mostly from folks who run commercial sites about new versions and upgrades being released before they were fully debugged. Can you spell "lost data?"

Maybe the auto-upgrade was okay for personal bloggers, but these days many folks are looking to their sites to create income and breaking the site and losing the data hurts the bottom line.

Meanwhile, I upgraded, and it was seamless.

Whew.

Gotta admit I think many (most?) of us are against using the automatic upgrade.

It was seamless for me. Just backup, then do the automatic upgrade.

I believe the .2 (or was it .1.1?) contained a security release so I would say it;s a good idea.

I'm running a WPMU site using version 2.9.1

Will 2.9.2 run better? "Should" I upgrade? Is it painless?

@terry hall: :( don't worry I was under the impression this was a mini update with a clash like that it may not be. However, plugin wise it's always best to be very careful on upgrades and you definitely should be saving a copy of your database before you do it.

@tlister: The problem is definitely a WPMu 2.9.2 conflict with the plugin. I rolled back to 2.9.1 and the images passed through. I haven't got a fix sorted out yet.

Teach me to upgrade with out testing first. Maybe one day I will learn.

There aren't any significant db changes in 2.9.2 so you should be fine.

@terry hall: no problem I'll keep an eye out for your update just update this thread and I can take a look see where you are at. We'll get somewhere hopefully and if I can help I will just unfortunately I may hit the boundaries with an unknown plugin. Whilst I can't be 100% sure from my testing and what seems to be going on I'd say that is the culprit. Why is the big wander considering the relative 'minor' nature of the update to WPMU.

@terry hall: hmmm I'm thinking it has something to do with that. Whilst I'm not saying I can't help does that plugin have a forum or some place you can see if they have a solution. I can help with regards to the theme but may hit a wall with a plugin that I'm unfamiliar with.

Permissions are set to 705 which do not seem to have changed. (no group permissions).

@terry hall: hmm is TDO Mini Forms a plugin? Sorry not aware of that. You are using custom fields? There is no need to do that with Magazine it just pulls through an image for you so you don't have to use custom fields for it - forgive me if got the wrong end of the stick on that one. My initial thoughts are permissions on the folders of your images - have those changed?

The images on http://divebarregulars.com were loaded via TDO Mini Forms with resulting image_url being http://divebarregulars.com/wp-content/uploads/tdomf//5098/beer-10-150x150.jpg - the urls are valid and were being pulled through prior to upgrading to 2.9.2 - After upgrade, they are not.

I just dug deeper.. those posts have images at the bottom not the top of the article can you try putting those at the top to see if that resolves the problem please. For instance: http://divebarregulars.com/dive-bars/irelands-32/ as opposed to http://divebarregulars.com/dive-bar-specials/dive-bar-etiquette-2/ the later one 'dive bar etiquette' pulls through the image correctly.
