Hi James:

thanks for your note: good idea, I will start a new thread and try to explain more clearly.

Re: your questions:

1. Someone subscribed without paying - I have to dig deep to understand why

- Did they get access though, or did they just become a user (the latter is nothing to worry about)

2. posts with the Free category are not showing up on the front page for non-members

- Have you had a good read through the membership installation info... there's a lot there that might be able to assist here

3. as above, I want to hide the Community menu, or choose what Community element to show on the front page to non-members. I will work on that next, after the Membership settings are correct

- I'm hoping the documentation can help you out.

Also, it might be worth you starting a new thread as this is now membership plugin territory.

Cheers, James

Hi James & Aaron:

thanks so much.

I'm starting from scratch - had a crazy redirect and it's fixed now.

I'm installed and set up the Membership plugin: the site is now here:

http://www.hoopinstructors.com

I have three problems - I'm listing them because perhaps they are related to Membership and I am hoping that one of you kind folks will take a look at the site and give me a sense of where to look for my error:
1. Someone subscribed without paying - I have to dig deep to understand why
2. posts with the Free category are not showing up on the front page for non-members
3. as above, I want to hide the Community menu, or choose what Community element to show on the front page to non-members. I will work on that next, after the Membership settings are correct.

more detail about problem #2:

a. I have 3 blog posts whose category is Free (not the only category)
b. the rest of my July posts are under the Premium category - they are hidden, as they should be
c. I set the Membership plugin so that non-members should be able to see the Free posts.
e. but the Free posts are not showing up at all.

any suggestions?

thanks,

Terri

Really for what you are describing you may be able to just use our blog privacy plugin to make the main (BP) blog available only to logged in users. Alternatively:
http://buddypress.org/community/groups/creating-extending/forum/topic/securing-components-from-non-logged-in-users/

Hi Terri,

You should be able to use the Supporter plugin to limit what non paying members are able to see.

http://premium.wpmudev.org/project/supporter

Alternatively, if you are looking for more complex membership rules you'll be able to achieve that with our membership plugin:

http://premium.wpmudev.org/project/membership

Both have pretty comprehensive installation instructions as to how you can configure them.

Cheers, James

Hi:

my client's site is:
http://72.18.130.197/~hoopinst
(production server)

Question: What do I need to change so that non-members can't see the Community parts of the site:
Membership,
Activity
Members
Groups
Forums

Thanks so much,

Terri
