Would anyone be interested in updating the gifts and/or points for the 1.7?

I have uploaded beta version of my plugin to wordpress trunk.
It is available to download from this address:

What was the goal for version 1.0 of this plugin ? Well just make it work on latest version of buddypress and wordpress.
It work for me and I am on wordpress 3.3.1 (mutlisite) , BuddyPress 1.5.5, Cubepoints 3.1 and CubePoints Buddypress Integration 1.9.8.4.

Give a try on your own wordpess&buddypress sites and let me know if it works for you as well.

Thank you for reply and links.

Integration with CubePoints is already included. When I set a value for example " -100 " in CubePoints-> BuddyPress setting page. Those points will be deducted from user account when user has sent a gift.

I have also remembered about very important staff like buddypress notification, updating activity stream, and updating CubePoints user earning points history.

Everything from above is already working in on a single installation of wordrpess & buddypress .

At the moment I am trying to fix a problem with wordpress multisite instalation.

Fun is my middle name, maybe you could come up with a cure for the Middle East and put the Fun back into fundamental and keep them happy.

I think anything that keeps users coming back is a good thing. For the more serious site, you could have 'handshake' instead of 'poke'.

I am definitely interested in "fun" so I have decided to give second life to Buddypress Gifts plugin. The plug-in is in very beta version but it work :) ( work on buddypress 1.5.5 Wordpress 3.3.1 mutlisite subdomain) when I finish testing I am going to upload to wordpress repo.
Anyone interesting to make this plug-in bullet proof?:)

Thanks for the feedback. I already tried CubePoints and it is cool but it doesnt really make things more fun for users as it would with the things I listed above.

Anyways.. I hope many others would want this too.
Is there a way to make this happen anyways, without costing me heaps of money?

Thanks for your suggestion! There are actually a number of useful BP plugins that have been somewhat abandoned, probably the most important one being the privacy plugin.

I agree the gifts plugin seems a very useful one in a community too, a very simple feature that I'm sure people would appreciate having.

While it's not exactly the same, you could potentially use CubePoints and enable the gift module so users could send points to each other. You could also use MarketPress with the CubePoints gateway so users could purchase things using those points.

That said though, let's see what others thoughts are on this.

It seems a lot of fun stuff is missing when it comes to Buddypress. Stuff that would help out keeping your members coming back or enjoy doing.

Basically stuff that you see at Myyearbook.com and Tagged.com:
Owned, Pets, Sticker, High five, Give Star, Flirt, Give Tag, Wink, Love......

I have been doing some research for the last 2 years and it seems those are the things that keep a lot of people attracted. I know there is a lot of professionalism here and so the mayourity may hate these kind of things. But I can ensure you that most of the people using community sites just go mostly for the fun. After facebook, myyearbook and tagged are the biggest (myspace and beebo, high five, hyves.. no so great these days).

Or maybe I'm missing something?
Anyways... I would love to see more of those kinds of plugins.
