Greetings thirteen,

Welcome to WPMU Dev!

I am assuming that you have in fact uploaded the child theme Grid Market directly to the /wp-content/themes/ folder and have activated that instead of the Frame Market theme?

Then the answer would be to protect your modifications by putting all modified things in the Grid Market themes folder so that when Frame Market is updated your changes are unaffected.

If adding a plugin to add the fields you should still keep the above structure intact, but worrying about theme changes becomes irrelevant regarding the plugin options.

Cheers, Joe

Hi, we're developing a child theme using Gridmarket as the base.

We need to add two custom fields to the new product screen. Both are text fields, and we don't want the usual WP unstructured custom field interface but add a proper field with the tinyMCE editing bar.

No prob with adding custom types in a generic WP install, but not sure with MarketPress.

Where would you recommend we add the php to? the plugin or the child theme (or I guess we could add a plugin that would add the fields)

thanks
