Ah, you're correct. Sorry about that. The transaction is from a man who bought two ProSites, but then later paid for a bit of consulting on his site. When I saw his name, I connected it with the site purchase. Sorry for the confusion.

Ok, I think I know what's going on. Those IPNs were not for pro sites, but unrelated paypal transactions. Though they were still forwarded to pro sites which rejected them, rather than ignored.

I'm not sure why other people are not running into this. I'm gonna make a minor change in the code for the new pro sites to avoid paypal disabling ipns. In the meantime you can safely ignore those messages.

I looked in the wp-config.php file. "PSTS_IPN_PASSWORD" doesn't appear in it anywhere. Does that answer your question?

"Request details" meaning the IPN message?

Ok, no idea really. It seems intermittent. MarketPress appears to be working now, at least on 3/12. The 2 Pro sites ones on 2/28-3/3 and 3/6 - 3/10 all got 401s. All other pro sites ipns are currently disabled because of the previous failures.

I need you to confirm this still:

The 401 errors mean unauthorized, this would only happen if you had PSTS_IPN_PASSWORD defined in wp-config when it's not supposed to be

The 401s would be a symptom of that. If you are sure that PSTS_IPN_PASSWORD is not in your wp-config file, then please paste the actual request details for those 2 401's.

Aaron, can you confirm or deny what becky said about the appropriate URL?

I'm still not sure what you need. I have the IPN history up, and the status on all those showing since 3/13 is "disabled." The only other info I have is Transaction ID and Message ID. I'm guessing you want the latter. Here is it for the last transaction:

I hit onto a number of errors when trying to install ipn forwarder only to realise that I did not follow aaron's instruction properly.

@ProSapien - just a quick question so as to rule out u did not encounter the same error as I did.

What url did u set ur ipn in paypal account? It should be the location of your ipn-forwarder.php, for example http://popcred.net/folder/ipn-forwarder.php and not http://popcred.net/wp-admin/admin-ajax.php?action=psts_pypl_ipn

Ok, so both IPN urls are working fine.

The 503 error tells me that your server was unable to verify the IPN via a remote call. Perhaps your host is blocking remote http POST calls via wp_remote_post(). Ask them if they block remote http POST requests.

The 401 errors mean unauthorized, this would only happen if you had PSTS_IPN_PASSWORD defined in wp-config when it's not supposed to be, or if Paypal sends a different IPN request.

It would be helpful to know which response codes are tied to which IPN urls.

Sent
Failed (3 of them)
Retrying (2 of them)

I assume the second and third are the problems. (The Retrying items are the last two on the list.)

The way to check the IPN History that Aaron is referring to is logged into PayPal --> Mouse over History on the top menu --> IPN History

This will give you a list of IPN transactions and by clicking on the items under the Message ID header you will get the information that Aaron is asking seeking to help figure out what is going on.
