Cool ideas here guys. The ability to add custom videos is nice. It'd have to be a whole new element coded in. I'll see what the devs think. Any other +1s on that?
Any way to have those video to work on them and add another soundtrack to translate them?
I don't think this is technically possible with current technology. Audio has to be encoded into the video stream. Unless you know of a flash/html5 player out there that can play a separate audio stream at the same time as video on demand.
If you are using the shortcodes from the plugin you have to do nothing. If you are using our iframe embed codes directly then you need to change the http:// to https:// in the iframe src.
a) this plugin was a massive time saver, so thanks for that!
b) just to be greedy.... are there any plans to add a similar series of Marketpress videos?
I appreciate there is an intro video and a series of screenshots and info snippets - all available from the Help dropdown in the admin area. Would be a nice addition if there were a series of unbranded short vids in relation to Marketpress, both on the "Video Tutorials" page and via shortcodes.
@Aaron I am not using iframes or short codes. I just activated the plugin and selected the "Top Level" for the Menu Location. This sets up the "Video Tutorials" menu in the admin panel. When I click on a video tutorial link I get an "access denied" message where the video should be. I am not using iframe or the short code - here is what it looks like - http://awesomescreenshot.com/03amk58b1
Is there some code I need to change in the php file to get it recognize https"
thanks
Terence
@Mark de Scande thanks for the fast response. However, I did all that and registered my site and it still didn't work. I think the issue is the "https" thing as all my pages are https on my site. Any other ideas?
This statement below i it can help :)
@Aaron
If you are using the shortcodes from the plugin you have to do nothing. If you are using our iframe embed codes directly then you need to change the http:// to https:// in the iframe src.
But I think yes i do that some times :)
1) go have a look if your server is not blocking WPMU
2) go update all 10 plugs/themes if you look at your screen shot
3) go update WordPress
after all the updates is what make WPMU stuff works as they build it on the new WP version.
I hope i am not sending you in the dark but i think your WP needs a BIG service :) just like a car
@ Mark - yes i do need to make some updates, however, that's not the problem. Notice your URL is http://bloglines.co.za/wp-admin/network/settings.php?page=wpmudev-videos which is HTTP whereas mine is HTTPS - the reason yours works out of the box is because it is HTTP not HTTPS -- I am not using an iframe so the instructions that you need to change the http:// to https:// in the iframe src is irrelevant. My question to the developer is "Does this plugin work out of the box if your admin area is HTTPS -- please don't tell me to change the URL on my iframe embed code as I am not using iframe embed codes.
@Mark sorry it my reply came off sounding harsh. I'm not upset, just trying to clarify the issue as precisely as I can. I appreciate you offering to help. No worries
@terence Not a problem some rep points will make up for it :)
Ps i look at the code OK i am not a coder but if you have a look at line 176 of wpmudev-videos/wpmudev-videos.php It look like it is handling HTTPS but again i am not a coder so i can not tell you if it is show
My question to the developer is "Does this plugin work out of the box if your admin area is HTTPS -- please don't tell me to change the URL on my iframe embed code as I am not using iframe embed codes.
Yo yo - can I get some rep points for asking a question that caused the developer to update the code in his plugin! That's pretty awesome right :-) Thanks Aaron. I will test out the new code.
I have installed the plugin on my multisite install and network activated - the main domain has been added to my wpmudev permitted sites but I haven't added the child site addresses. Main site lets me view videos but child sites are blocked. Is there something special I need to do here?
And the subsites are subdomain of it, like site.oncourss.com ? If you have admin area domain mapped sites then you have to register those domains separately.
Ok, so are you saying that if I want to make the video tutorials available to clients on my multisite install I need to register each sub-site individually in order for them to gain access to the videos from their admin dashboards? And can I also confirm that we are limited to 20 registered sites?
If this is the case then it is probably best for me to display the videos on a front-end page instead of the admin dashboard of each client site like I was originally trying to do.
Sorry to be a pain Aaron, I am just wondering if there is an easy way for me to create a front end page with the same video library table of contents that you are offering for the back end of the site? I looked through the shortcodes but only see those for individual videos - is there one I can use to embed the library with the menu? That way I could make the page private to logged in users but still available to everyone with a sub-site of the main blog.

No, only if they are mapped domains. Subdomains count as one site if the root domain is registered.

There is no shortcode for that currently due to styling issues.
This thread it getting long so I may have missed it but I'd like to know if the multiple calls for adding our own videos to the mix seems to still go unanswered. Is this being considered?
Would love to see the ability to active this for all network sites. We could burn through the 20 domain limit quickly.
*You should also add this step to the Installations page....had a client meeting today and talked about how great our new video tutorials are in the dashboard, but couldn't access them until after the meeting when I figured out how to add additional domain names.
OK, thanks for the quick reply. Is there a place where I can find the url of the videos? (If I have that I may be able to use a cool vidEmbed plugin I have) or do I need to use embed code... also where do I find the embed code?
Hello
This is first a very good Idea.I installed it on network of a one customer.
Second step, I removed it.
Because it's really too heavy. It makes all slow. And we are on a dedicated server...
Blue Eyes - did you add it via the embedded code or the short code? Hosting it yourself I would agree, It may get heavy but with the short code or embedding it, the load should not be on your server.
We are on dedicated server. Nevertheless, when one browse on websites, if your plugin is activate (only on dashboard), I see the address of the plugin being loaded into the navigation bar. This slows down the loading. If the plugin is disabled, no waiting, the pages load normallyI've tested disabling and reactivating the plugin: same
I'm guessing you are refferring to having to load the video embeds iframes in certain dashboard pages. There's nothing that can be sped up there, the images are already hosted on a CDN. Does the same happen when you turn off showing videos in the help dropdowns? In that case you would only need to load the video snapshots on the video page.

@terence Go to the Network side of things :)
Ie
http://bloglines.co.za/wp-admin/network/settings.php?page=wpmudev-videos
Now look for Register This Domain Make sure it says this "Already Registered!" if not just fill in the details.
Or
Go to your account page on WPMU
Ie
http://premium.wpmudev.org/wp-admin/profile.php?page=vidapi
Make sure your site has been added there as well Sould look Like This
Ie
Your Registered Domains: bloglines.co.za
I hope this helps :) for me it worked out the Box :) Love it
