Hello
I have enabled the group forums from BuddyPress menu and it takes almost 30 seconds for the forums page to load and quite often it loads page without the css definitions. (text only displays).
In my server logs, I see this:
PHP Warning: mysql_set_charset() expects parameter 2 to be resource, boolean given in /home/guplogs/html/wp-includes/wp-db.php on line 553, referer: **********/groups/gl-support/

It happened only with the forums. I went to backend and buddypress and enabled forums for groups. come to the front and under settings add a forum. take a looooong time for page to reload with confirmation. click on forums and wait 30-40 seconds before getting the text page without any css loaded.
We were able to connect to the database server (which means your username and password is okay) but not able to select the database.
Are you sure it exists?
Does the user guplogs have permission to use the database?
On some systems the name of your database is prefixed with your username, so it would be like username_. Could that be the problem?
and if i dont set up the debug .. the forums page load but without any css and on the top it says this group does not have any administrators ..
i can email screenshots or give you access if you would like to look around.
more info .. i just did a fresh install and completed all steps/plugins BUT the multi-db. and its working fine on my test domain. could multi-db be causing all this? i am fairly heart broken here. big stumbling block for me. :(
Just checking in to see how things are going with this one and if you need any further help. :-)
We haven't heard from you on this thread for a while, perhaps you got help over email. I'm going to presume your all fixed up now and don't need any further assistance.
However if you have more questions or need some more help then please feel free to respond in this thread or create a new one and we will be more than happy to offer assistance. :-)

Hiya!
You've selected Multi-DB but are you actually using Multi-DB?
Thanks,
Phil

yes Phil. I just checked. of the 16, random database tables are being populated. that should tell me that multi-db is being used?

Okay, thanks for that - just needed to make sure.
You are only seeing this on group pages, correct? Or does it happen on any other pages?
Thanks

Sorry for the delay.
This happens only with forums, yes?
Would you mind installing http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wp-memory-usage/ and telling me whether there is a difference in the forums to other pages please?
Thanks

I enabled the debug and here is what I get:

Okay, so can you do a fresh install with Multi-DB to check if it really is that or just something to do with your current site please?
Can you also paste your db-config.php please?
Thanks
