Any chance of getting a plugin that lists new blogs just like the RSS feeds for new posts or comments? Maybe something could be done out of the recent blogs widget?
This would be great to display blogs on an other website.
Thanks in advance.

Hiya,
Sounds like a cool idea for a plugin/widget. We had an old plugin called "List All" that would create a list of new blogs or users site-wide. I don't seem to have a link to anymore though. Hmmm...
*Edit* I've moved this over to the Suggestions and Feedback Forum. Thanks!

I've always been against lists of the New Blogs to be honest. On out installs, they're always either the spammers who haven't been caught yet (They usually post right away) or empty blogs of people still trying to figure things out.

Lists for new blogs might be ok if you are doing something similar to us, which is to offer blogs by private invitation or as a premium members, thus hopefully having some quality control. However, even in those circumstances all bogs will be empty or blank when first created and even the most diligent of users may take a while to populate them, so you could end up with a list of empty blogs as @drmike points out.
You might be better off showing latest members. Not sure there is an easy solution to this to automate it. Quality control comes through human intervention and judgement but has a high trade-off against man-hours involved in doing that. However that sort of quality control is highly prized - you just have to look at the influence that DMOZ has on Google to realise that.
Food for thought father than help

Yes but it's important for new bloggers to have some visitors. A comment on the first post could be the difference between a closed blog or an active blog. Even if the blogs doesn't have posts in the beginning, most people have blogposts in mind when they create blogs. With a startup-wizard (provided here) they would be encouraged to make a first post when they sign up.

@Qlof - I understand what you are saying and can see the reasoning. You've made me think a little about my own site. In the mean time the nearest thing that I have come across that might come close to what you want is MU Sitewide Tags Pages plugin http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wordpress-mu-sitewide-tags/
You'll have to try it and see if it does anything for you. Would like to know what you think of it.

also you can use it in conjunction with this http://wpmututorials.com/plugins/featured-posts-plugin-and-widget/
Not exactly what you wanted but it is a promotion of sitewide posts. I'll let you know if I find anything better

My problem is that I have 3 domains on 3 separate installs. I syndicate posts so that the latest posts are "sitewide" (meaning all 3 sites) but the latest blogs are not "sitewide".
I'm expecting big trouble merging these 3 sites if there's some multidomain solution coming out...
