Using bp-social, I saw that when users create groups, the cropping preview frame for avatar appears to overlay over the other stuffs.

This theme is in need of a bit of a refresh. The new BuddyPress version may cause some special issues. We're working on getting an update out that'll take care of this and other issues you've noted.
