I wanted to upgrade the BP Social Theme from 1.2.2 to 1.2.3. When I try to update through Dashboard, I get the message:
An error occurred while updating BuddyPress Social: Update package not available..
After I tried to update manually (by removing the old directory themes/bp-social and installing the new bp-social directory), the webpage did not look the same anymore:
1) None of the widgets contained anything that was previously there
2) When I clicked on the activity menu in the header it took me to http://mydomain.comactivity instead of to http://mydomain.com/activity (similar for members, groups, forums...)
I'm using WP 3.1.3 and did not make any changes in the old parent theme.

Thanks for your feedback! I've checked out the theme on a test site and am seeing the same with the activity and community links in BuddyPress. I'll notify the developers on that.
The widget code may have changed slightly which would account for the changes there. Can you try loading widgets into those areas once again?
At the bottom of your Appearance > Widgets page you'll see all the previous widgets you had, and should be able to drag them back into position.
Just want to say, when update your themes or plugins, make sure you backup the original files and folders. In case things go wrong with auto update, you can always re-upload! If it has to do with databases, make sure you backup all your databases too!
Also, the previous versions of all the plugins and themes here are all accessible to members via the project pages. There's a link at the bottom of the page that reads:
Hi there member, check out all available downloads for this project here ยป
Helps to be able to access older versions for various reasons. Sometimes members need a prior version in order to work with older versions of WordPress for instance.
