Sorry it's not to your liking. If you're looking for a particular kind of theme you should start a thread in our feedback & suggestions forum describing what you'd like to see.
personally in my experince..
many company or business oriented site using buddypress only use
1-2 widget for their activity in frontpage....so no need to throw in 10 widget
space in frontpage where blog and news will be more suitable for business
theme..not the kind like social network where lot of going on in their homepage.
user profile or activity update maybe their main concern.
Thank you for the new theme. I have a minor problem which is the navigation doesn't support child pages. My parent page "About" has several child pages and the button doesn't drop down. There's no way I can have all of those pages in the top navigation. Is there a way to fix this.
@hollysuso: Glad you like it. There are a number of options to you showing child pages. By default that theme doesn't show them but you could add some code to make it show. I'd suggest perhaps showing them in the sidebar after all that is nicely open to showing things on pages assuming you are using not the full width template.
There are 2 options.
1. You go the plugin route (not sure of the compatibility with wp-mu/ bp but there is: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/hierarchical-pages/ along with many other options. Then you could activate that in sidebar-page.php or whatever page you wanted to show it on.
2. Make your own option using /sidebars/sidebar-page.php editing. You'd have to edit sidebar.php a little but this would work:
1. If you are using the child theme copy sidebar-page.php AND the sidebars directory (just only sidebar-page.php though) to the child theme or if not using a child theme just use the sidebar.php in your theme.
2. In sidebar.php right at the start put this:
Off topic, but I'm getting some weirdness with the forum. When I posted my comment above, I was taken to an error screen, then when I went back, it showed that my comment had posted twice.
When I posted yesterday, I had 2 posts: 1 saying how much I liked this theme and the PDF instructions, and the second saying that there was some strange behavior.
Not sure what happened to the compliment--but I'll say it again:
This is exactly the sort of theme and support I was looking for when I subscribed a few months ago--kudos!
I also got some strange behaviour with business theme. When activated, theme displays on all pages properly except HOME page which ends up as blank page.
@match11: Not sure why you would be getting that what is the path you've installed the site under as if it's not bp-business/ that could be the problem. Do you get this with other themes or just bp-business? Have you tried setting the theme options to see if your problem clears up by setting those?
@danbutcher: Thank you for the compliments we're glad you are finding the pdf useful.
@cdkrauth: I will take a look at this for you and update you. If I can replicate I will issue a new version of the theme so please bare with me while I test this.
@extremelyfit and @cdkrauth: Are you selecting under preset styles blue or another style? I think this is possibly because you aren't setting a style and in the theme options default. I will check this and update the file if that is what is occurring though. I can confirm I can't replicate using an existing style preset could you please let me know which one you are using and if you get this problem if you do not use a plugin as perhaps the plugin is interfering is also my thought. I will endeavor to solve this just need a bit more information please.
@extemelyfit and @cdkrauth: I have done an update to the them you can download the new version it has a fix as I think you hadn't selected a pre-set style as this was only way I could replicate this. Apologies for the issue but it is now fixed in the theme.
I'm currently using the BP-Corporate theme1.1.5 and figured it was a good time to try a BP theme with a parent/child. (It seems like I could add a child theme to the BP-Corporate Theme.) I'm using bp business 1.0.5, WPMU 2.9.1. with bp 1.1.3. This is my first use of a bp child theme, so I'm not quite sure what to expect.
I added both BP-Scholar and BP-Business themes, but decided on the Business Theme.
I added these folders:
/wp-content/themes/bp-business/
/wp-content/themes/bp-business-wc/
I copied header.php to the child theme folder.
These issues are for both the bp-business child and parent themes, but I spent most of my time testing the child theme. Using the bp-business themes (the same for bp-scholar)
my new and exiting pages have text on a white background, no images, etc.
Issue #1: At the bottom of the page is this error which is why I figure there is no navigation bar:
Fatal error: Call to undefined function bp_is_member() in ../public_html/wp-content/themes/bp-business/footer.php on line 48
(BTW, this does not happen when I apply the bp-scholar theme)
Issue#2: Preset style = default.css
Went into edit on the About page to try the theme templates like 3 column, members, right side bar but there was no change to the look of the page. Added a page called HomePage and left it in draft mode. Here I could see the application of the various templates. Is it not possible to convert an existing page to one of the templates provided?
Issue#3: I tried the preset styles and they changed the look some, but the top and bottom areas of the pages were shades of grey and no background color changed. This was the same for the existing as well as the new HomePage page. The text changed color as I changed to different preset styles.
Issue#4: I went back to the default.css preset style and tried out custom styling.
I added a background image from my media library and verified the URL was correct, but no background image was added. I also tried adding some colors, but they did not change either.
Question: Is it possible to movet the navbar on the bsuiness theme to the top of the pages rather than the bottom?
@lwmcmahon: Business and Scholar are now for BuddyPress 1.2 as that is out - the version you have for both will not work on anything earlier than that correctly which is what you are trying using BuddyPress 1.1.3. What version a theme supports is listed under the actual theme posting. If you are still having issues please let me know and we can diagnosis correctly once you're on the right version for that theme.
Hello.
I'm starting to work on graphic integration on last buddypress 1.2 and this template, version 1.0.5.
My only problem still remaining on the home page setup. I didnt have this problem on buddy 1.1&Template 1.0.4.
I'd like to setup this page as home: http://auregime.net/presentation-du-site/, but no way. On Banner click I have the blog view.
Here is a screenshot of my setup view:
@pierre.ristic: hmmm not overly sure what is your issue have you set it as a page template then linked that as home under settings > reading? I am updating business though to use home.php again in the next updated (expect it the next few days) so that could resolve this for you.
@lwmcmahon: Bp-corporate is now 1.2 ready. I haven't tried going backwards and would not suggest it myself. You can do backwards compatible things but I've also not tested those I'm afraid and certainly don't know how they work for plugins.
I would certainly perfer to go to BP 1.2 with my current bp-corporate theme updated to support it...then look into a theme change. I need to see if the bp email and calendar need to be updated for bp 1.2.
Yep: under settings >> reading and setting the home works. Not so elegant but as I'm developing, it would be nice. Thanks. Waiting the next release of the template.
Hi two simple questions about the Business theme. Sorry if they are too obvious.
How can I make the head space smaller? it is too big..
how can I show at the home page more than 3 latest news... something like 6... it hast just 3 latest news option.
thanks a lot.
I'll help ya get these issues sorted, but I'd recommend that in the future you start up a new thread. These longer threads are more easily missed by our developers, designers and forum moderators, so you'll get better support if you start a new thread for each issue. Thanks!
Ok, so as to your two questions:
How can I make the head space smaller?
This is not one of the options available in this theme, however, there are several ways this could be done - depending on how you want it smaller. If you want to simply bring the bottom line up I'd recommend adding a height property to the #header-wrapper (140px would be default, so just choose a lower value til you find what you're looking for).
how can I show at the home page more than 3 latest news
Open up home.php in your theme's root directory. On line 56 you should see a portion that says'&showposts=3'. Change the 3 to a 6 and save.
Hi, great, thanks a lot.. yes, I in the future I will start a new thread.
I solved the 3 to 6 latest news, but it should be 2 lines with 3 posts but instead I get 1 lines with 3 posts, other with 2 and the last with 1 :(
also when I change in the theme options a sidebar and 2 latest posts showing (I change it to 6), then I have the widgets shown at the bottom, beside the last 2 posts.
any idea?
---
sorry I didn't understood, the change of the header size.. I entered in the header.php, then I found this code...
what should I add to it?
// adding a height property to the #header-wrapper
I did not find the header-wrapper.. and I dont know how to add a height property.. sorry
I'm just logging off for the day, but if you'll start a new thread on this. Myself and some of the theme designers will help ya get this customization figured out straight away. Thanks! :D

}</p>
<p> else {
$children = wp_list_pages("title_li=&child_of=".$post->ID."&echo=0");
$titlenamer = get_the_title($post->ID);
}
if ($children) { ?></p>
<p> <h2> <? echo $titlenamer ?> </h2></p></p>
<?php echo $children; ?>
<p><p><?php } ?>
There are simply a ton of other coding variations you could use over at http://codex.wordpress.org/Template_Tags/wp_list_pages
Hope that helps.

I am just testing the theme and I notice in the new user signup page, the fields are white letters on white background.
I haven't yet delved into the css pages, but is there a suggested fix?

Hi,
OK, I need to go to BP 1.2. However, the BP Calendar, Email and my current BP-Corporate theme are not rated for BP 1.2.
Can I just restore the BP 1.1.3 folder to backout BP 1.2?

Hiya!
First off, welcome to WPMU DEV! :D
I'll help ya get these issues sorted, but I'd recommend that in the future you start up a new thread. These longer threads are more easily missed by our developers, designers and forum moderators, so you'll get better support if you start a new thread for each issue. Thanks!
Ok, so as to your two questions:
This is not one of the options available in this theme, however, there are several ways this could be done - depending on how you want it smaller. If you want to simply bring the bottom line up I'd recommend adding a height property to the #header-wrapper (140px would be default, so just choose a lower value til you find what you're looking for).
Open up home.php in your theme's root directory. On line 56 you should see a portion that says'&showposts=3'. Change the 3 to a 6 and save.
You'll be all set up!
If making CSS modifications such as what I've described above are new, I'd definitely recommend getting a tool called firebug and checking out this video Tammie put together on how to use it:
http://buddydress.com/2010/06/firebug-installing-discovering-and-using-the-tutorial/
Hope this helps! Again, welcome! :D
