Though plugin description clearly says
This plugin isn't designed to be used with BuddyPress since it has its own inbuilt avatar system
I feel there is clearly a case to make it compatible and working with buddypress. When using buddypress with wordpress multisite, buddypress avatars are not propagated into subsites.
This plugin can fill this gap,
If there is any other noncomplicated ways to accomplish this , please let me know.

Hi mediwaves,
In thinking through it, I'm no totally sure, but I think the avatars should be accessible on sub-sites as well. While it's a little dated now, the following thread over at buddypress.org has a lot to say on it:
http://buddypress.org/community/groups/how-to-and-troubleshooting/forum/topic/custom-avatars-arent-shown-on-single-blogs-in-wpmu/
Perhaps you'd just need to ensure BP_ROOT_BLOG is defined?
