I honestly don't know of another plugin that does this. I took a look at that version today and it's not only WordPress 3.0 that it needs to be updated for but some BuddyPress stuff as well.
Anyone know of a solution to help out Max with this? I'd think this is something others would appreciate as well.
Both of these display a list of groups to choose from on sign up; not quite an auto join, however allows for users to select groups they select on signup.
Option 1 has more functions, join blog, approval, etc - but from comments, may not be stable.
Option 2 not as many functions, however looks stable - may be better option.
---- I am thining of splitting the sign up page - one for site users and one for "vendor" registration on MU install of marketpress. Would have the group selection only on the vendors registration form.
---- I am also using the membership plugin - vendors will sign up with membership.
Any tips/plugins to assist with seperating and customising the registration forms, or just hack away as normal?
Separating & customizing the registration forms is still almost always a 'hack away' process.
We've written on ways to customize the wp-signup.php a couple times on the forums, but as you're using BuddyPress that further complicates it a bit. Hack away and if you have any specific questions let us know.
Definitely keep us updated on your project. Sounds very exciting :D
I am currently using BuddyPress Registration Groups but would much prefer to sue only WMPU Dev products. Can we call this thread a feature request or do I need to post it elsewhere?
+1
This is another important system need to keep things more automated to admin many groups.
Membership subscriptions setup could add an option to automatically add new member to certain groups. The Buddypress plugin: http://buddypress.org/community/groups/buddypress-auto-group-join/
is a tool to cause new subscribers to be automatically joined to certain groups.
However, it would be best to integrate with the subscription levels so each level can be specific as to which groups are automatic.
This would save many steps if using the access levels as a way to keep people within certain groups.
Regarding the Buddypress auto group join, though the current version states it is compatible up to BP 1.5.2, it still has an error stating "BuddyPress Groups are currently Disabled" when they are not, and there has been no answer for over a month. and you can't post to the developers site, as registration is closed. Therefore, the importance of Membership adopting this integration is very important.

1. BuddyPress Registration Options - http://buddypress.org/community/groups/bp-registration-options/

If we're calling it a feature request, I'm +1!
Anyone else?

I dunno if this one auto joins, but it does allow you to send invites automatically:

I've heard good things about it, feel free to give it a shot :)
