I want to have a location dropdown in my buddypress Profile Fields that functions just like facebook's location drop down. To see what I mean, go to your facebook page, click on edit profile, and go to where it reads "Hometown." You can start typing your city, and the drop down lists all the cities in the world that match what you've typed in. This takes care of your city, state/province, and country, all in one field. So, from the buddypress admin screen, I want to be able to select Profile Fields > Profile Fields > Add Field. And for Field Type I want to be able to select Location Dropdown. I want it to work in the admin section, and I want users to be able to edit their location using this drop down in the front end. Thanks!

While this is a very nice idea, I can't see it really ever being done within core BuddyPress. You can already create a profile field that is a dropdown select box, but you'd have to populate all of the possible entries.
I think I'll put this element on the back burner until I get the more important parts of the site up and running, then come back to this as an upgrade...with a developer's help! ;)
It would be so nice, especially with the automatic link feature. If somebody types in their Country as "USA" and somebody else clicks on that link to see all the other members from that country, they won't see all the members who entered "US" "United States" "America" "United States of America" etc.
So, my pipe dream is to have it just like face book, but at the very least, a drop down country list would be so nice.

Hiya,
While this is a very nice idea, I can't see it really ever being done within core BuddyPress. You can already create a profile field that is a dropdown select box, but you'd have to populate all of the possible entries.
The autocomplete portion would need to be done within the theme via javascript. Here's a tutorial on that:

Is it possible to have the option for the user to select from a drop down BUT if the country is not there then they can add the additional country?
This way the users will populate the country, town database?
