Hi,
I'm new here. I need help with the BuddyPress Social Theme. I have set the options to homepage featured block style to gallery. How do I get the image to appear in the featured block?
I've got the Slider working well and showing the featured post title and text but I can't figure out how to add the image that goes in the featured box.

I've got the Slider working well and showing the featured post title and text but I can't figure out how to add the image that goes in the featured box.
When I create a post, I add thumbs in the custom field and the url to my image as the value.
<img src="http://www.webbriefcase.net/screen/2010-01-22_2041.png" alt="Custom fiels in post" />
The image comes up fine when I select "article" as the homepage featured block style in themes option. But when I select "gallery" the image doesn't appear.
Actually that image tag was supposed to embed a screenshot of my post page into the reply but instead the tags came out. Anyway, here it is again. Here's what I have on my post page (this is a link to a screenshot):
The gallery was working for me (BP Social) the way described above but then I added a few more post-id's for a total of 9 and now all I get is the background color no slider or image.
Images are sized 625 X 295
I tried reducing the number back down to 4 like it was when it was working no luck.
Tried only two still broken
Sometimes when I load the page I can see the first image starting to load but it has two different post titles and then it goes to the background color.
Seems like it just broke.
Sorry can't give a URL it's a private site for sensitive client.
Hope you can help anyway
Thanks
thanks Richie
i got it working now. the strange thing is that images were randomly disappearing from the media library. i had to upload one of them 3 times.
the Article mode helped me to easily see which ones were missing

There's only this one post (id 15) and I've defined the thumbs with the image url
Those are the theme options
-Choose your homepage featured block style = gallery
-Insert the post id for your featured post = 15
-Change your desired custom field for featured post images= thumbs
Your suggestion to insert more than 1 post-id works fine. Thanks.
My problem is getting my site looking like the BuddyPress Social theme as it displays in the theme preview on BuddyPress. For example, how do I get the gradient effect that wraps around the feature box? And how do I place the widgets alongside each other in the footer? And how do I move the search box into the footer?

hi virtualina
you need to setup your new or existed 'custom-field' in theme option first.
when wrting a post, there should be an option below to add your
custom field key and custom key value(this should be the img url)
cheers

Thanks for your reply.
In my theme options, the custom field is thumbs
When I create a post, I add thumbs in the custom field and the url to my image as the value.

Did I forget something?
Warm regards,

the correct value need to input in 'thumbs' value field should be img url only..no html tag

<img src="http://www.webbriefcase.net/screen/2010-01-22_2041.png" alt="Custom fiels in post" />

hi virtualina
did you setup the feature post 'post-id' in theme option?
unlike the 'article' mode where it auto grab the latest post
the 'gallery' mode used your theme option set post id to grab
the post.
you need to add the post-id in featured setting like this
4,56,75,23,65 - where this is post-id
cheers

did you try the 9 post in article mode, see if all the image was
fetch properly.
sometime when one image or post-id not existed will cause this.

I noticed that the gallery seems to display the oldest articles first. Any ideas on how to make it show the most recent post?

My site is http://deanbradley.agentblogs.com.au. I'm on MU 2.9.2 and haven't yet installed BuddyPress.
Any help appreciated.

Hi Richie,
OK. Sorted the issue with the footer widgets. That was a matter of changing the home page to a 3 column layout.
Still stuck with the other. I'm betting you're going to say that I need to edit the child theme CSS in some way. But I wait with baited breath.
:-)

While I'm making a noise in hear, how do I create a top level nav link to my blog?

Quick note so others aware.
Peter is fine for now (we chatted on twitter). Currently working through the BuddyPress Manual ( http://premium.wpmudev.org/the-buddypress-manual/ ) and installing BuddyPress.
