Does anyone have a decent comparison or summary of a Buddypress setup vs. the WPMU Plugin's suggested by wpmudev for setting up Edublogs style service?
I've already got my WPMU site installed and had already installed BuddyPress and the builtin forums to it, but as far as I understand that only affects the main blog site, not hosted sites?
The four plugins above were recommended for a Edublogs hosted type service, but I wasn't quite sure why they're being recommended over Buddypress, what features may be lost or gained.
Any help on this would be greatly appreciated by anyone with experience in the two.

One of the primary differences is that our plugins all reside in the admin panel (except for the forums) and BuddyPress resides on the frontend. If you want the social features to be visible on the frontend then you need to go with BuddyPress.
Thanks, that helps some and I'd probably lean more towards the social features, which I'll look at more closely.
Only other question is potential issues with templates? Is it much more difficult to offer/customize the BuddyPress templates vs. standard MU templates while using your mods?

Also, that post is very much about how we recreate what we offer at Edublogs (and Edublogs Campus, specifically) - which isn't BuddyPress.
Reason being that we developed it long before BuddyPress and our clients are generally far more concerned with Blogging that social networking...
