I am trying to allow each member that signs up on my buddypress WPMU site to become a global member but then to allow each subsite to allow global or new members to register or join that membership.
If someone goes to a specific site and attempts to sign up, they are taken to the main site. I want them to not only be added to the database for the main site buddypress install but should be added as a member of that specific site from which they sign up at.
Maybe I am not sure the concept of how this works, but I am very interested to get suggestions/solutions.
note, only the main site runs a buddy-press install at this time.

Yes this is my favorite because the plugin DOES EXIST...
mp blog register from Aaron, but not updated. And it is not a wpmudev one but just a aaron one and for now not updated for wp 3.2.
And proposed some enhencements, as does this one http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/add-users-sidebar-widget/ but also forgoten in the lymbs, that could be merged with mp blog register, with just a little option to "moderate" registration on the destination site. I mean the registration may ergister the user on the network AND request subscription on the site that would need to be validated by the site admin....
I wrote a lot of thread on that and in fact the only answer i got from wp.org forum is "look how wp.com does".
I am not wp.com (yet ^^) and i dont care !
We need a per site registration process, and still dont understand how this is not in the core of wp....
I know there are redirect plugins after an action like logging in or out. I think you have to enter a specific url.
1. As a work around, can the users sign up on the main form and the be redirect to their "current" page?
2. Can I create and option on my bp page where the user can select the site(s) and even (groups) they want to sign up for?
If the above is achieveable, it may be a good and even better option overall as users are made aware of other options but can choose the interested option(s) from a list and once completed, be redirected to their "current" page where the process began
I was able to do it with a templatic theme. On their theme, it has an inbuilt registration page. Not a widget. Once I signed up there, it also showed on main portal, without going main at all.
It seems to be workable if the theme on the subsite has a default inbuilt registration. I am not sure but it worked for me for at least two profiles I created on the subsite.
It is not the ideal situation as described but maybe this may be useful to someone else.
on a network with free section i wont give templatic themes... and now that at least bbpress finalyy works (its about time !) the need for subsites moderated/protected registration process is just essential !
@Aphhrodite I am not sure I follow what you are saying but it seems to indicate that you are running buddypress on main site and also subsite and it works?
absolutly not. I need to run the bbpress plugin on subsite, or, any forum system but now bbpress works. AND to post, members need to be registered on the site. Son need a per site registration process, ideally secure and moderated.
This theme came with it built in and once you sign up, it stays on that site page. You can view the source to check out what is going and see if that is useful.
I know but this is a partial solution. Not secure at all. What we need is to registrate user using the whole process AND some widget to "subscribe" existing network users. The plugins DO exist, just need a fusion and update....

Hello WPMU Support,
I would love to get your feedback as this is critical to my project. I figure this is fairly easy to achieve if it is not already done....

Comming back on my per site registration crusade ;)
Instead of a raccoon shall I promise heaven ? (or optionally hell, as you prefer ;) )

I think this is achievable using JS that calls the main registration.... If the theme has this built into it. See http://jobs.huceacs.com/?page=registration
