I fixed this myself by deleting the associated database entry in
UPDATE
tmsites.wp_9_optionsSEToption_value= '' WHEREwp_9_options.option_id=114;And just cleared out the option for the google maps.

Actually, the plugin provides the option to do this right from within the WP admin section. In the plugin settings there is a section called Google Maps Add-ons. Activate the "fix and repair" add-on and it will give you the options to fix or clear the database table. After fixing or clearing it, you can again deactive the add-on.
My thought is that this problem occurs in combination with the Blog Templates plugin, since I haven't encountered it yet when creating an empty new blog, but only when using blog templates.
