I have just discovered that the chat plugin causes an error during group creation in Buddypress right after uploading and cropping the avatar. There is a message "Avatar uploaded successfully", the avatar is not shown here, and then if you select the next step you get the "are you sure you want to do this?" screen. I had this with two sites.

This is what I found in the error log:
[error] [client 66.249.66.143] client denied by server configuration: /home/fxxx/public_html/wp-content/plugins/chat/error_log so I went to check that error log and found:
PHP Fatal error: Call to undefined function register_activation_hook() in /home/fxxx/public_html/wp-content/plugins/chat/chat.php on line 99
Also today I discovered that the ultimate translate plugin was causing the preview post not to work. Nothing in the error logs about that.
Hi, I am just dragging up this thread as this is still an issue for me. Also on my subsites the chat plugin doesn't work unless it is activated on the main site, but if it is activated on the main site I have the error on group creation right after cropping the avatar. Would you have any idea why this is?
I don't know why, but this thread seems to be dying a slow painful death...but I'm going to try and resuscitate it again.
So I have this same problem on two sites, one multisite with bp, the other single site with bp. The chat plugin causes an error when uploading the group avatar.

Gonna bring this up again, still a problem for me. Any ideas what is causing this? I have checked the error logs, there is nothing there.

I really would like to use the chat plugin.
Thanks.
