Hello,
After reading some of the other stories I thought I would come here to report my own issues with this plugin in the hopes that we can get this resolved as it's the only really reliable option out there for BP users.
I have not yet updated to WP 3.2 - I was waiting for the other shoe to drop still, but I am using BuddyPress 1.2.8 and when I either Network Activate or Site Activate your plugin I will get the following error printed in my header:

I can see what mods they are referring to and I 'could' try to turn them off, but in truth some of them are your own plugins and I'd rather sacrifice having all those other functions than gain a single dubious one :P
At any rate, there it is - hope that you guys are able to sort it out and again I thank you all for your time and expert service.

Is there any way I can run this with those errors showing but hide them? I have recently converted our entire operation to rely on a number of your plugins and your support. :)
Thanks for posting some help Ovldlu - however this hasn't helped my issue.
I added :@ini_set('log_errors','Off'); and @ini_set('display_errors','Off'); to my wp-config.php file but this did nothing in terms of removing the errors printed in the header.
I'm still getting errors saying:

Thank you again Ovidiu - I did try putting the entire block of code from that topic and that didn't help me :(
I'm sorry for the difficulty. Is there something else we can try? I have asked the host to help with php.ini file but I'm not sure if they will be able to.
hm, I'm no expert BUT: usually you print out any errors and warnings while you are developing a site, when its done, you hide those. since they are being logged you can always check your log file but visitors won't be confronted with errors and warnings...
please try and ask your host to disable display_errors and check if your error logs are available so that you cna still check in there for probs.
Update: I was able to get our host to disable the feature in php.ini as described. When I got to activate the plugin again it still prints those errors..
What is causing them to do so? Perhaps I can try to attack this from another angle. A classifieds is a central feature to our site. I may have to consider some other custom theme instead if I can't get this to work.
I do hope the official support will pitch in soon, but meanwhile let me tell you that I doubt the support has disabled error display since you still see them.
or do you only see them in your admin panel when activating? do they continue showing in your dashboard? do they show on the front-end of your site too?
It sounds like there are other php.ini files in play here. If your host has indeed changed php.ini they also need to look for other ini files.
Place a file in your install (alongside wp-config.php) called info.php and place the following inside it: <?php phpinfo(); ?>
Then visit that page in your browser and it should show what ini files are in play. You can send that to your hosts to point them in the right direction.
Also check your .htaccess to see if there is anything in there other than the default WordPress rules.
Thanks Phil - I added the info.php file as directed. I see some "Additional .ini files parsed" like: /etc/php5/apache2/conf.d/curl.ini, /etc/php5/apache2/conf.d/gd.ini, /etc/php5/apache2/conf.d/imap.ini, /etc/php5/apache2/conf.d/ioncube-loader-5.3.ini, /etc/php5/apache2/conf.d/mcrypt.ini, /etc/php5/apache2/conf.d/mysql.ini, /etc/php5/apache2/conf.d/mysqli.ini, /etc/php5/apache2/conf.d/pdo.ini, /etc/php5/apache2/conf.d/pdo_mysql.ini, /etc/php5/apache2/conf.d/pdo_sqlite.ini, /etc/php5/apache2/conf.d/sqlite.ini, /etc/php5/apache2/conf.d/sqlite3.ini, /etc/php5/apache2/conf.d/xsl.ini
Do they need to turn error reporting off on all of these files?
We've tried to turn off reporting but are the errors safe to ignore for normal operation of the plugin?
It's usually the line define('WP_DEBUG', true); that causes these to be displayed, can you check that in wp-config.php and set it to false if possible.
Alternatively, find that line and underneath it, try adding:
error_reporting(NULL);
Just reviewing your original post you say you're using BuddyPress 1.2.8. You should upgrade to 1.2.9 as the earlier version isn't compatible with WP 3.2.
I'm not using WP 3.2 yet and I'm still using BP 1.2.8 because I'm still letting things 'bake' until all the bugs are worked out.
Please do let me know if you guys can figure out a way to make the plugin work. There is no expectation that upgrading to WP 3.2 will resolve this error at this time.
We have successfully tested the plugin with WP 3.2 and BP 1.2.9 so we're confident it'll work fine in that setup.
As we've already mentioned, it looks like this issue is down to PHP config - it's just a case of finding which of this INI files contains the setting that's chucking out these errors.
Hi Phil - ok so you think that there are other ini files rather than the php.ini - I've told them that before and can press the issue to see if this resolves it.
Can you explain to me briefly what causes those errors to be printed? What does "deprecated" mean in this context?
Deprecated means that the function being used is being phased out and will no longer be present in a future version of PHP. It's a warning to the developer to replace it with newer equivalents, which will happen.

Hiya,
Sorry for the delay - I have notified the developer to take a look at this. He'll be along anytime soon to check this out.

@TehStig:
PHP error reporting should be turned off for production sites anyway.
check your php.ini for turning it off, or use the easy route via wp-config.php if you don't have access to php.ini, check here for more details: http://premium.wpmudev.org/forums/topic/solving-problems-and-error-reporting
here is a specific item from that post:

define('WP_DEBUG', false); on my wp-config file.
I have also added to it:
@ini_set('log_errors','Off');
@ini_set('display_errors','Off');
@Barry - I just tried using your last two suggestions to no avail.

So hiding the errors isn't working (yet) how about fixing the cause of the errors?

Hi Phil - ok so you think that there are other ini files rather than the php.ini - I've told them that before and can press the issue to see if this resolves it.
Can you explain to me briefly what causes those errors to be printed? What does "deprecated" mean in this context?

Deprecated means that the function being used is being phased out and will no longer be present in a future version of PHP. It's a warning to the developer to replace it with newer equivalents, which will happen.
