Are there any plans to make this compatible with regular WP sites? This seems like it would be great to us with Ultimate FB to address the issue of not being able to approve users that register through FB.

Hiya,
I'm not sure how much work it would take to make this plugin work in the single-site install, but I'll ask the developer.
I'm also gonna change this to a feature request. Anyone else out there looking for a simple signup code for user signups?
Thanks!

If there is enough interest we will consider making this plugin WordPress single compatible. Please vote here if you want this feature in next major release of Signup Code

can we make this a sticky?

We're keeping a close eye on it. Probably won't make this a sticky though. I think we have too many already ;)
Anyone else?

Does this imply that there is an issue with the spamming/splogging through the Facebook registration feature?

the possibility definitely exists

+1 I have a regular Buddypress site and I'd love for my members to be able to invite friends by sending them a signup code through the front end of my site.

Hi Everyone,
This is my first post at WPMU :)
Actually I needed the Signup code plugin for single sites, but unfortunately it doesn't work that way, so I googled this issue and I found a plugin that apparently does exactly this:
Sabre
http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/sabre/other_notes/
Ok, I haven't tried it yet, but thought I'd post it here first so maybe you would throw me some points if it works :)
First possible issue that comes to mind is whether this would work with the membership plugin. I'm going to try it out and report back once I have some results.
Oh and sorry about my name, it contains some special characters and apparently WPMU isn't using utf8. Whatever.
See you soon,
Zoltan

Hiya @zolt__n_m__dai,
Welcome to WPMU DEV and thanks for posting :)
There's actually a few new solutions for BuddyPress spam that I've seen recently. One I'm impressed with is this one:
http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/sweetcaptcha-revolutionary-free-captcha-service/
Looks really cool and avoids all those terrible captcha pics that are so hard to read.
As to the username, you should be able to change your display name to whatever ya like (though I'm not sure about the special characters).
Thanks!
