@pcwriter, at the moment I saw that you to share your solution here I said to myself this guy deserves more:
http://premium.wpmudev.org/forums/topic/enable-your-users-to-pay-per-post-or-create-your-own-advertise-on-this-site-ad-system
I mean not everyone may be willing to share his solution which costed several hours to him, and he can be completely right to do so as we are living in a very competitive world, but sharing is something different and it is awesome, isn't it? :)
Congrats @pcwriter.

As far as I'm concerned, that's the goal of these forums and of this community. It's one of the few that actually achieves that goal with respect and humor, and then goes the extra mile to recognize the contributions by its members. So thank YOU.
@Gina
Lol... so was I ! ;-) And you'll definitely be seeing me around 'cuz I'm still learning (it's a lifelong thing) and have much to learn from everyone here.
@Jonathan
So glad the membership roster was still open ;-)
@Timothy
It's all those darned staffers who type faster than I do!
@Hakan
I believe that the end-goal of investing several hours of labor is not to hoard the results and deprive others of the benefits. Rather, the return on the investment is greatly enhanced when others can also reap the rewards. Think "Pay it Forward"... a magnificent film that illustrates this very thing.
@Joe
Ooh, I love surprises!!
@Kimberly @Paul @PC
Thanks guys... the effort was well worth it... and it ain't over yet!

@pcwriter Congratulations on your lifetime status! I hope to someday achieve the same status of greatness. Your book is very captivating and I look forward to finish it soon. Normally a book like this I'd have a hard time putting it down. However the surgery had really wiped me out. Congratulations Again and keep up the great work!

@All
Thank you very much for the warm words about my book! Writing that memoir a few years after 9½ months of addiction therapy was a cathartic experience to say the least. Although self-published and available since 2007, financial limitations had prevented me from making any investment in promotion or marketing. With the help of Joe and his firm however, that may all change by this time next year! So, a big thanks goes out to Joe here for this post: http://premium.wpmudev.org/forums/topic/looking-for-wordpress-authors-book-ideas#post-194431
And thanks to everyone for comments about sharing and the lifetime membership! Some 30 years ago, I adopted a simple philosophy about sharing that my father had engraved on a plaque when he wedded my step-mother (freely adapted from an american-indian saying):
"Shared grief is halved grief; shared joy is doubled joy."
See also Ubuntu: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ubuntu_%28philosophy%29
So go ahead and double the joy everyone! Sharing it costs nothing.

@pcwriter - It is good to share your eaperiences when you have come out the other side in one piece.
I used to talk with youth groups about my experiences, though I was lucky to never have been involved with addictive substances, unless you include fags (or cigarettes before anybody complains). I was living on the streets at 16 and managed to turn my life around. I often use this simple example when people tell me they are in a rut they cannot get out of:
At 16 I was living on the streets - at 39 I was running in the Parliamentary elections (and didn't come last). There is always a way out, but that always means a first step and, often, a helping hand from somebody.

Sorry to lower the tone here but:
I remember the first time I told an American I was going to smoke a fag.
Happy times. :-)
lol
Member (joined July 2010) Likes (0)
Smoking a fag is bad, rolling a fag is much worse (I was told to role was to mug)
Support Chimp (joined March 2010) Likes (0)
Well I haven't been smoking fags for about 3 or 4 years now.
I once loved rolling a fag as well though. I use to miss sucking on a fag, the craving is not so much any longer. :-)

You guys sound like two holdovers from Monty Python... or better yet, the Carry On Gang!
:o)
Support Chimp (joined March 2010) Likes (0)
Thats funny because just this evening some of the staff had a Skype meeting and the topics of Monty Python, Red Dwarf and a whole host of other British comedies came up as well. It wasn't my fault that time either..... honest governor! ;-)
Support (joined July 2011) Likes (0)
Yah... likely story. Next case, please! :-p
Member (joined July 2010) Likes (0)
@pcwriter - Gotta love Monty Python and the Carry On team. We still show the Carry Ons and Pink panther to the kids, not Monty Python yet though, especially Life of brian when he opens that window.
"He's not the Messiah, he's a very naughty boy"
@Timothy - I'm a total Dwarfy. Did you know that season 10 of Red Dwarf is being aired in September, filming began just before Christmas, and back to the way it was with a live audience, unlike the 3 episode season 9 :o)

'The Boss' aka Mrs Joe, just got herself a Samsung Galaxy and loves it. She supposedly got it to enable her to site anywhere and do the editing/proof reading, but she seems to be playing a game where she shoots a the arrow off someones head more :o)
The Kindle reader on there is really good, and she's now using that and our daughter has gained a Kindle.

Arun,
I would love one, maybe you can sponsor me :P
No, in all seriousness, like Joe said, there are some very good alternatives to the iPad available, so will take my time before I invest in this. In the meantime an ePub will do until I have my Kindle...

Please add me to that list! I want to be notified when it's available...

I'll be making an announcement on the site, particularly as it was through wpmudev that this all came about, so it can show people that being a member here is more than just downloading great plugins/themes and getting great support.

you just have to help the right people. Those that give points. i think a lot of people still don't know about giving out points.
Support Chimp (joined March 2010) Likes (0)
Some give more freely than others.
Some will give point one time but not the next.
Just offer the best you can but expect nothing in return. That worked for me when I was a member last year. So give more than you receive and you will receive more than you give :-)
@Joe, I'm blushing! lol
Looking forward to seeing this. :-)
Take care.
Lifetime Member (joined June 2009) Likes (0)
points take awhile to accumulate if you want points. If you just help out as often as possible and seriously solve some big issues for folks you will find they drop some big number points on you. But that is when you do as timothy did last year... expect nothing in return and give more than you receive. Be of service whenever you can is the trick.
This very topic is a Good example of a guy who helps out just check out his reputation and follow links to those topics he help out in to get a better idea: http://premium.wpmudev.org/forums/profile/pcwriter/reputation
Sidenote: I'm a kindle fan myself.
