If I do not require the user to have a Paypal account, then there seems to only be two Paypal options:
1. PayPal Pro at $30/mo which is not supported.
2. Enhanced Recurring Payments for Website Payment Standard at $20/mo.
But there may be a better option than to use PayPal, so a better question might be:
What is the best way to collect recurring subscription payments from members?
As I hadn't heard of it until you asked, then I'm afraid the answer is no.
At the moment I'm using paypal solo to handle membership without an account, but it's not ideal and i'd like to look at other methods will investigate.
I've never heard of PaPal Solo and I'm not getting to far in my search. Is it seems that solo which is a kind of credit card in the UK?
You won't find anything on it as it's a membership plugin thing, it basically manages susbcriptions via single payments (which can be made via credit card) and reminders for users to renew.
You need to activate the PayPal with single payments gateway in the plugin to use it.
Is Paypal Solo is the current "PayPal Express - with Single Payments"?
It seems that 2Checkout also provides recurring billing w/o requiring a user to have such an account. The cost is $.045/transaction and 5.5% so it is easy to calculate the overhead.
It would be great if Membership would support the Paypal " Enhanced Recurring Payments for Website Payment Standard" as this is a very afforable way to handle such payments. Any chance this gateway could be added to Membership in say a month or so?

Yep.

No ETAs :)
If it's something you need coded up quickly, a developer familiar with the Enhanced Recurring Payments would be able to code this up using the other PayPal gateways for membership as a template.

Hiya Larry,
I'm not sure myself, but I'll ask a couple of the developers about this one.
Thanks!

It does not seem practical to have membership subscriptions that are not recurring. Am I missing something?
Have you actually tried using this PayPal option? Any Idea how to get this to work?

OK, no ETA.
Any chance this gateway will get added to the Membership plugin?
So if I someday this gateway gets added, then I would just manually change all memeber gateways to the new one? Is that how I would convert?
How would I find such a developer?

Hi,
I called Paypal to confirm there is an API for this option for PayPal Standard option.
I suppose it there could be a Manual option for Membership and Site Pro to add the subscribe buttons from PayPal then that might work.

Larry
