hi there,
i have finally managed to get the domain mapping working.
however, i have a shop on one of the sites, and the shopping cart doesn't work while the domain mapping is activated. once i turn the domain mapping off, the shopping cart works just fine.
if you could help me to sort out this problem that'd be great.
thanks,
Adam

Hey there.
Just looking at your site and it looks great to me, maybe I missed the issue?
What doesn't work there?
Which commerce plugin was it?
Thanks.

hi Timothy,
yes, it looks great. unfortunately, there's some issue with the shopping cart.
when i click 'add to cart' it doesn't update the cart.
for instance if you're here and try to 'add to cart' http://www.pauldowningmusic.co.uk/albums/catalog/strange-flower/
however, when i'm pressing the red button 'add to cart' here: http://www.pauldowningmusic.co.uk/shop/lets-move-out-to-mars/
it seems to work. but it's only this one button which works.
when the domain mapping is deactivated, the shopping cart works perfect, so it must definitely be a conflict with the domain mapping, i'm just not sure what it can be.
PS. i'm using woocommerce plugin.
if you could help me with this issue that'd be great!!!
thanks,
Adam

i've done some more testing..
the problem only occurs, when the administration area on the domain mapping plugin is set to 'original domain'.
i'd like to keep it this way because the video tutorials wouldn't work with other settings and it works for me as well.
so, any idea what can cause the shopping cart when the domain mapping is set to 'original domain'?
thanks,
Adam

Unfortunately I don't have access to Woo so I'm unable to test here.
I'll ping our developer on this plugin and ask him for some feedback and ideas.
Take care.

ok, thanks. i'll be waiting for some ideas then. hope it's possible to sort this one out!

hi Timothy,
any news on the issue?
i got a reply from the woothemes support and they've suggested to look at this thread on their forum: http://www.woothemes.com/support-forum/?viewtopic=59841#thepost272494
maybe you guys understand it better..
just briefly the issue on my multisite: once the domain mapping is set to 'original domain' for the administration mapping, the shopping cart doesn't really update.
i wouldn't mind to use the mapped domain or entered by user, but unfortunately the 'video tutorials' plugin works only on 'original domain'.
thanks for your support!

Reading the thread it seems like the resources won't load due to not using SSL.
As I'm not overly familiar with WooCommerce its hard to know, do you use SSL?
I have pinged Barry again, hopefully he should be along shortly.
Thanks.
Member (joined November 2011) Likes (0)
i'm not using SSL..

switch to gridmarket or marketpress? both work with the plugin, i really like them!
how are you using domain mapping? a record?
Member (joined November 2011) Likes (0)
i'm using domain entered by the user at the moment.
i want to stick to woocommerce as it's nicely integrated into the theme i'm using.
still, domain mapping set to 'original domain' causing issue.
Timothy, any news from Barry?
thanks,
Adam

I've pinged barry a couple of times and will do so again now.
The thread you mentioned they linked you to was about SSL so I'm not sure how that relates then if you don't have it.
Thanks.

hmm, i have no idea either.
PS. when i type in pauldowningmusic.co.uk into the google search, it redirects to my main multisite website. i need to type in http://www.pauldowningmusic.co.uk for it to work properly. is that some kind of a bug? people might be typing in the domain without www on some occasions, so i'm curious whether there's a way to sort it out.
thanks,
Adam

Sounds like your dns and webserver aren't set up properly. Typing either should go to the same place if they are correctly set.

hi Barry,
thanks for your reply. i've contacted the hosting and that's what they've suggested:
"Have you mapped both pauldowningmusic.co.uk and http://www.pauldowningmusic.co.uk to the same WordPress installation in your admin area? It sounds like you might only have mapped the http://www.pauldowningmusic.co.uk version of the site. "
i've tried to delete action on the domain mapping plugin for pauldowningmusic.co.uk, but it doesn't work. it's just not removing.. any idea why's that happening.
PS.Timothy said you might know why i have a problem with the shopping cart. it only happens when the administration mapping is set to 'original domain'.
i'd like to keep it to 'original domain' one of the reason being that the video tutorials won't work in other settings.

Greetings adam007,
I have to agree with Barry on this one if this issue with www and not www still exists.
Removal of the Domain Mapping plugin is actually quite simple if indeed that is what you want to do as what seems to be indicated here:
Where you would want to FTP into the site and delete it using FTP.
Do not forget to reverse the sunrise.php entry in your wp-config.php file.
Please advise on how you are making out.
Cheers, Joe

hi Joe,
thanks. i've managed to sort out this www issue.
however, the main problem i've started this thread with still remains the same.
namely, when the domain used for the administration area is set to 'original domain', the store i have on my website doesn't update the basket. i have it set to 'domain entered by the user' now and it's all good; however, in this case 'video tutorials' don't work.
any help on that?
thanks,
Adam

Greetings adam007,
I think I have indeed experienced a similar issue but not positive if it is the same, does the item count up at the top just not change and if doing a refresh the amounts in the cart indeed updates correctly?
When using 'domain entered by the user' but using the mapped domain does the cart work correctly? And the video's do not work?
Is the domain you are using that the videos do not work, is that domain/sub domain in the WPMU Dev API?
Please advise as I try to figure out what is working here and what is not and the combinations.
Cheers, Joe

no, that's not the case. when i press the 'add to cart' button, it just doesn't update the shopping cart. http://pauldowningmusic.co.uk/shop/
i'm going to leave it set to 'original domain' so you can look on that..
it works fine when it's set to 'domain entered by the user' and 'mapped domain'.
'video tutorials' aren't with 'original domain' and i'd really like to provide it for my users..
thanks for your support!!

Greetings Adam,
Thank you for sharing the URL it is greatly appreciated in efforts to figure out what the problem is.
The cart here http://pauldowningmusic.co.uk/shop/ works flawlessly when it's set to 'domain entered by the user' and 'mapped domain'
Totally bizarre.
And the videos do not work under either condition of 'domain entered by the user' and 'mapped domain'?
Please advise if I have this summary correct and then I am going to try to see about getting the lead developer back in here to see it for himself.
Cheers, Joe
Member (joined November 2011) Likes (0)
yes, that's correct.
the shopping cart doesn't work properly when the domain mapping is set to 'original domain'. and that seems to be the only option for the 'video tutorials' to work..
thanks,
Adam

Hello Adam!
Thanks for your patience here.
I'm actually going to see if I can get the Marketpress Developer to look into this as well, so we can look at the issue from both sides :)
Barry and Aaron: the shopping cart doesn't work properly when the domain mapping is set to 'original domain'. and that seems to be the only option for the 'video tutorials' to work..

hi Kimberly,
thanks for that. i'll be waiting for some news.

This is a technical limitation in browsers, not something we can overcome in either plugin. To get around it domain mapping admin side must either be set to domain entered (recommended) or mapped.
If it's not set to one of those, then MP attempts to degrade gracefully by turning of the AJAX add to cart and using normal posting.

hi AAron,
thanks for your reply.
it's better not to use 'original domain' for the admin side.
do you recon there's a chance to use the video tutorial with the 'original domain' though?
thanks,
Adam
Member (joined November 2011) Likes (0)
sorry, i mean the 'video tutorials work only with 'original domain' and i'm wondering whether it's possible for that plugin to work with other settings, so i can provide video tutorials..
thanks,
Adam
Member (joined November 2011) Likes (0)
any news on that? can i have video tutorials working with 'domain entered by the user'?
thanks,
Adam

At the moment it isn't possible, but I'm not sure how Aaron will handle this in the future.
Perhaps it might be possible for our video plugin to check the parent blogs domain to auth with.
I'll ping him, but I'm not sure right now, sorry.
Take care.

ok, thanks. i hope it'll be possible in the future then.

Wow, this thread covers like 4 different topics. Currently for the video tutorials API you need to register every root domain you put the videos on, just how it works, no way around that.
Member (joined November 2011) Likes (0)
thanks. how can i register root domain then? i'm not sure how and where to do that
Member (joined November 2011) Likes (0)
ok, i've registered root domain, but i still get this message:
"Displaying support videos in the admin area of sites is incompatible with your domain mapping settings. Administration mapping must be set to "original domain" to display videos in the admin area."
unfortunately, i cannot have administration mapping set to 'original domain' because it causes issues with the shopping cart:/
so no way around it at all right?
Lead Developer (joined May 2009) Likes (0)
Not that I know of with woocommerce. MarketPress will gracefully degrade if domain mapping is set to original.
Member (joined November 2011) Likes (0)
unfortunately, woocommerce shopping cart is not working properly with 'original domain'. i've mentioned that as the first thread here..

Adam,
I'm not sure what we can do about it not working with WooCommerce :(
I don't think any of us have a specialty in that one, sorry
Member (joined March 2013) Likes (0)
same issue here.
the problem is that the path to the admin-ajax.php is looking for the file at a subdomain, and i'm using a subfolder install.
i imagine you would always want ajax coming from the mapped domain, regardless of the Original domain/mapped domain status, due to cross-domain script blocking, right?
i've detailed the issue here, hoping we can get to the bottom of this, using Original domain is the only option for me, because i want to secure my entire admin area under one SSL cert, instead of having to get one for each domain or a wildcard.

Hello @fox_jones
Thanks for posting on the forums.
This is quite an old thread to reopen as the plugin has gone through many changes since it was opened.
As you have already created another thread for this issue, I will request and really appreciate if you continue support on that only to avoid any confusions.
If there is any particular info in this thread you want to share on the new thread, you can provide a reference to this thread to the staff dealing with the new one.
Thanks for your understanding on this one.
Cheers, PC
