Hi Aphrodite,
Hmm, have you had that working in the past by any chance?
Also, is there any chance you could try deactivating other plugins, especially any SEO plugins, to see if it works with that done?
Thanks,
David

wpml is freshly installed.
and i use infinite seo and wpmudev domain mapping. This is a prod environnement, and deactivating infinite seo would rally be a mess huh ?
But must admit that domain mapping make this manytimes, even if configured ac "use mapped domain" instead of "use entered domain" AND that in site list the custom domain is NOT mentioned under "custom domain"
the mapping technically work when visiting a site.

Hi Aphrodite,
You're right, the custom domain name doesn't currently show in the sites list, and that's being looked at by the developers.
I don't have WPML myself so I don't have a way to test this really, but was hoping it might just be a simple matter of a plugin conflict that we may be able to sort.
There's a rather recent thread over on WPML's forums regarding support for domain mapping, using the MU Domain Mapping plugin I believe. And it mentions that they're not compatible.
http://forum.wpml.org/topic.php?id=3981
I think it may be that WPML itself isn't designed to work with domain mapping plugins at this point. Have you looked into that by any chance?

This is a very very (very !) big issue....
You will understand that there is absolutly no interest to use marketpress/wpml it there is no possibility to use it with domain mapping on a multisite !!!!!
Well, be the guy who will respond to them in less than hours....

any news on this one ?

Hi Aphrodite,
My apologies there, I totally misunderstood your response to mean you were looking into it with WPML. I'll tag one of the developers over here to see if he might have any ideas but as I don't have WPML myself, I'm really not sure how it works with Domain Mapping to know how to sort this.
I'll also check with a few of the other guys over here to see if they've got any ideas and to see how we can maybe go about sorting this with WPML.

I don't have WPML either I'm afraid or any idea how it works - to be honest I don't understand what your original post says - so any help or details of what wpml is supposed to do / how it works / what it isn't doing would be great.

Ok
The problem is quite simple.
To access translated post/pages, wpml can ad a "subfolder like" slug ie site.com/en/ for ex.
When using domain mapping this does not work. They tried to contact the author of MU domain mapping without success, and for now this does not work on any mapped domain subsite.
And this is huge, sice that mean this can NOT be used on a mappped marketpress subsite.
As YOU have a deal with them on marketpress, I mean you should quite urgently solve this certainly very simple issue !
love you guys ;)

Hi Aphrodite,
I've emailed them over at WPML. Looking forward to further word from them on any advice they might have to get these two working alongside each other.

This does sound like an issue with their plugin being able to support domain mapping.
If they need help with that then we can of course work with them on it. Hopefully they'll get back to David soon.

@Aphrodite, I have the same need and the same issue as you at the same time. Unfortunately, I don't seem to have the same feedback from WPML as you look to have. So I'll stay tuned on your topic on WPML's forum.
@WPMUDEV, thanks for working with WPML on this one, it's a critical one actually.

Any new of wpml guys ? Have they found the culprit code ?

The news from WPML with respect to the Domain mapping is this one:
http://wpml.org/documentation/essential-multilingual-plugins/multilingual-site-network-with-domain-mapping/
It basically says that there is no problem (with Wordpress 3.3 and MU Domain Mapping) when you set it up correctly and make a change of a couple of lines of code somewhere in the Domain Mapping PHP.
I use Wordpress 3.2.1 with the wpmudev domain mapping plugin and cannot get it fixed.
------- 30 minutes later ----------
I decided to uninstall the wpmudev domain mapping and to install the MU Domain Mapping ... and it worked like a charm within 30 minutes on my local test install ...

Hiya Emanaku,
I've asked the developer of our domain mapping plugin for further comment. Thanks for your feedback and posting your results.

It seems the couple of lines of code that they change in the MU Domain Mapping plugin effectively disables its use over https:// or have I read that wrong?

Hi.
Any news on this issue?
It actually occurs when WPML is set with "Different languages in directories", which is the setting that most people (like me) would want, but not with "Language name added as a parameter", which I presently have to use but I'd like to avoid.
Thanks.

this has been corrected since centuries now. Works fine :)
Member (joined July 2011) Likes (0)
I tried it again an hour ago and it doesn't work better! What release(s) did solve it for you?
Using Domain Mapping 3.0.7 and WPML 2.4.3.
Thanks.

oops sorry you are right.
This was solved with mu domain mapping according to wpml forums.
its late now for me; will digg that this week since need it absolutly :)
Member (joined July 2011) Likes (0)
Okay, we're fortunately still on the same page. Thanks Aphrodite.
Et bonne nuit ! :-)

Ok guys this is out my competence.
Please digg that because we need to be able to use DM AND multidomain and have no idea about MU domain mapping and multidomain, since the sunrise.php have been rewritten to work with multidomain.
This one is up to you.
@barry
i can send you wpml for testing purpose. This is very very important to have it to work, this is at this time the ONLY serious way to "multilinguageize" wordpress, still a mess on this point....
thanks :)

Ok guys this is the issue :
found on WPML forums. Do the problem is rewrite rules.
BUT
You understand that this is not an option on a multisite. Manually change the domain name in site options is definitly not an option..
What could be simple is that Domain mapping AUTOMATICALLY CHANGES this value, keeps the original url somewhere in case of "demapping" (generally should not happen) but please analyse this, since it WORKS with the MU domain mapping, it MUST work whith your's.
Of course that must also work with Multidomains ;)
Are you wpmudev or not ? ^^
/me trying to stimulate your ego ;)
Member (joined July 2011) Likes (0)
Unfortunately, not much ego stimulated here...
@Aphrodite, could you post the reference to the WPML forums' article?
I manually changed the domain value for my mapped subsite ('domain' field in 'wp_blogs' table), but it doesn't work better with the 'Different languages in directories' setting.
@WPMU DEV, please at least leave a reply!
Thanks.

the tip vas about subdomain install, no need to go in tables but in site modification url in betwork admin.
there are several post on wpml about that
official tuto : http://wpml.org/documentation/essential-multilingual-plugins/multilingual-site-network-with-domain-mapping/

I've just tried Domain Mapping and WPML, and they're not working. Is there any progress on this?
Member (joined December 2012) Likes (0)
I have the same problem. I see from this thread that this issue is one year old. As this is a potential important issue, shouldn't it be handled any faster ?
One solution is to change in the site-options. The tricky thing about this, is that site-redirections from old subdomain URL's does not work anymore. If the user who are using domain-mapping and WPML have sent e-mails and posted links in social media, those links will not work anymore if we change the domin name in the site-settings. Althought, this might not be a big issue - it is not ideal.
I have posted a support-request at WPML forum about this, and they are digging into my site now - but haven't yet heard anything. I will post an update here when I get some answers.
Here is the link to the support thread at WPML:
