Multisite
I want to enter an admin menu item for a page without using the actual url since it changes for each subdomain
How do I enter http://domain.com/contact
http://domain.com/site1/contact
http://domain.com/site2/contact
I see that if it is a php file like users.php I can just enter that in the url line.
How do I do it for a page like contact which is wordpress page?
/contact doesn't work

And I don't want them to edit the page, only view it. (It has shortcode on it)

Atlanta,
Are you asking for this because you will be using the New Blog Template plugin or another to recreate this setup?
Sorry, just wondering why you are looking for this :)
I've done some looking and it looks like you can call the domain name using php but I am amiss to know how to use it in this situation. The plugin currently doesn't support variables in the custom menu area, so I don't think this would be possible without custom coding.
I can flag this as a feature request, and a great one too! :)
Best,
Kimberly

Yes Kimberly, I am using New Blog Templates. Thanks.
Please pass on the request to the developers and let them know that the plugin looks great, I am impressed with how much they have accomplished with it since last year when I first installed it and deactivated it.
If anybody has any suggestions on how to get it to work on a page that is created by a template it will be appreciated.

Hi Atlanta,
I have added a link to a page in my multisite, now it isn't a menu on the Easy Admin it is a link within a menu. It is for members to fill in a profile page. I use the about page which is created with every new blog, and so has the same id number on every site in the network. I guess if you are using the Blog Template Plugin you can create your pages so that they will have the same id on every site?
Here is the URL that I use, which would be used as the menu URL in easy blogging:
post.php?post=2&action=editSo this will basically edit page number 2, which is the about page on every blog. It is probably worth a try.
Hopefully this will be of some use for you.

Hi Fondeli, thanks. I am trying to get them to see the published page view where shortcode is inserted, not the edit page view.
post.php?post=2&action=edit will take them to the edit page view.

Oh, sorry, must of misread your original post. Do you want to show it in the Admin, or link to the site? Have you considered adding a link to the admin bar?

I was looking for an easy way to do it instead of manually adding the link to each template that is created.

Hello Atlanta,
Going through the thread I thought of a possible workaround.
1. Create a "Contact" page on your template site (I read you already use New Blog Templates)
2. Set it up to your liking using your favourite method.
3. Activate the lately updated Lock Posts plugin and lock the "Contact" page
4. Network activate the Custom Admin Bar.
5. Go to the Custom Admin Bar settings page and add a new link leading to the site "Contact" page
6. Give it a try
7. Enjoy :)
I haven't tried the above steps myself so should you try them out I would love to know the results. I would be particularly interested on how the 7th step comes along. ;)
I hope that helps,
marikamitsos
PS: Keep in mind that all four plugins mentioned (New Blog Templates, Easy Blogging, Lock Posts, Custom Admin Bar) are developed/maintained by the same developer. VeBailovity

@ marikamitsos Thanks, sending you points.
It does work BUT introduces a whole bunch of content that I wanted users to avoid by using Easy Blogging in the first place.
Any other ideas on how I can do this?

Hi - in follow up to our live chat on Friday.
If I add a menu item to easy blogging (for example for a contact form) with the url
/contact
Note: it starts with the / and the contact part is the permalink for the page, then it shows up at that url relative to the blog I'm on, which is what I think you were after.
So if I'm on blog3 the url comes out as blog3.mysite.com and if I'm on blog6 then it comes out as blog6.mysite.com and seems to work ok.

Hi Barry, my site is ser up as domain.com/blog1
/contact takes me to domain.com/contact not domain.com/blog1/contact

Hey Atlanta,
So you got the picture up there, nice!
I was working on it and no luck yet, but this is possible and what I did need some fine tuning. Will pass this over to Ve and I will get back to you with good news as soon as we talk.

Hello,
With the attached update, you should be able to use macros such as BLOG_PATH and LOGOUT_URL in your URLs when adding links in the "Menu items" interface. Can you please give it a go and see if it helps with your issue?

Thanks Ve... 3 quick questions for you
1) if I wanted this page to show in easy blogging for a mutlisite using new blog template, what would I enter in the menu item.... /contact ?
http://domain.com/site2/contact
http://domain.com/site3/contact
http://domain.com/site4/contact
2) ditto for logout
/logout_url ?
3) Also, if I upload the zip file will it wipe out the information that I have saved in the current easy blogging admin panel or will it save those settings?

1. I uploaded the easy blogging zip file and tried entering different urls such as:
/contact
BLOG_PATH/contact
/BLOG_PATH/contact
but these all pull up error urls in the address bar of http://contact
What am I supposed to enter to get the contact page to show for different blogs?
2. and now pages such as ?post=18&action=edit that used to redirect properly to domain.com/subsite1/?post=18&action=edit
now show an error message of
http://post.php/?post=18&action=edit see image 3
How do I fix?
The logout_url works, thanks.

Hi, any word on this one?

'Oh wow! Sorry for the delay, I was not around to ping him directly, but have sent him an email asking about this one.
The lapse in communication was my fault here, I had to step away sporadically off and on for a family issue.
Thanks so much for your patience here!

Hello,
The latest update (v3.2, just released) has some improvements that, combined with WordPress 3.4 update should take care of the issue. Can you please upgrade and see if it works for your scenario as well?
Member (joined March 2011) Likes (0)
Hi Ve I tried Version 3.2 and wp 3.4 and couldn't figure it out.
I tried these urls to get the contact page on a subsite to pull up:
http://mysite.com/BLOG_PATH/contact
http://mysite.com/BLOG_PATH/wp-admin/contact
http://mysite.com/wp-admin/BLOG_PATH/contact
BLOG_PATH/contact
/BLOG_PATH/contact
/BLOG_PATH/contact/
And they either give me a page not found message or they redirect to the
http://mysite.com/contact

Hi any word here?
Member (joined March 2011) Likes (0)
Ve said
the http://yoursite,com/BLOG_PATH/contact should have resolved to http://yoursite.com/your_blog_path/contact
and it worked
Closing ticket.
Thanks
