Editing Welcome Panel
I have only found a few links saying you can't but I figured I would come to the experts. Can you edit the welcome panel for new users who sign up? Seems rather odd if you can't. Thanks!

Hiya!
By the welcome panel do you mean the bit that contains the number of posts, comments, etc?
Thanks,
Phil
No im sorry. I mean the welcome to Wordpress Slash page that shows up for first time login after the creation of new blogs in 3.3. L

Ohhhh that horrid thing!
You should just be able to change that by actually using a translation. I'm not aware of a way to change it other than that though, other than the many plugins to disable it.
Thanks,
Phil
Ah I never thought about that route. Changing the language file would make it safe from being overwritten during upgrades right?
Updates will always delete all the files so you would need to backup and re-upload your modified language files each time.

sir you can use the Custom Admin Text plugin to change the text and then during updates it will not be changed.
Also if you change files that when an update occurs you do not want changed, simply permission the file you do not want changed 444 read only :-) and it cannot be changed unless you re-permission the file.

Thanks Joe, it appears editing it directly might be the best option. I tried using the custom text and it had a problem changing links. No big deal though, thanks for the tip about 444 permissions.
Greetings BlakiceMG :-)
you are very welcome and have a GREAT weekend!
Joe :-)
