well, this bbpress integration is the poorest forum system i have ever seen.
Since it is quite good and effective for someting like here, for a "community" and "social network" this is a mess.
No smileys, no editor, nothing. Text text text .
I have found some extension, as bpckeditor, but impossible to have it working fine (in studio theme at least, dont know if that can be theme related).
Is there a way to have something as a REAL forum, with all traditional forum functions, especially smileys, and at least some kind of real editor ?

That's actually the whole point of the software. When it first came out, it was promoted as a barebones forum with absolutely nothing added it t make it fancy. I just recently joined a OSQA forum and compared to bbpress, that's downright exciting.
+1 for simplepress. Modeled after phpbb for the most part. (At least that's how it feels to me.) They have a couple threads in their support forums about merging it into buddypress although some folks here that'[s not fully supported.
The force of the bbpress in buddypress is its full integration wich is just fine.
just editor and smileys... its not asking for a miracle !
Well the next version will apparently work as stand alone plugins, i hope that forum dev will do something to have theirs integreted in buddypress, as bbpress will be...
and that is where you guys can interfear.... with a nice, simple forum directly integrated...
