Follow up email plugin not sending my customized welcome email
I have installed automatic follow up emails for new users. I set one Action with a customized email to be sent to new users immediately. The email never came to my test user. All I received was the default BuddyPress email, which is incomplete and does not contain the user's password.
Is there somewhere the plugin has to be "turned on" after the actions are set?

Hiya Kate!
Welcome to WPMU DEV! Glad to see ya here! :D
This plugin ties in the wp_cron system, so your site needs to be getting a regular flow of traffic to trigger scheduled email events. It might not behave how you expect if it's just a test server with only you visiting.
(I totally stole the above answer from an earlier post by Aaron, but he's one of the lead developers on this one). ;D

This is a bit odd. Aaron or Barry should be by to comment on this. It's getting late in many parts of the world, but they'll be by as soon as they can.
Thanks and and again, welcome! :D
*Edit* Also, check out this thread for some other solutions:

I checked out that thread and installed the WP Missed Schedule Fix Failed Scheduled Future Posts plug-in. My site is members-only, so by nature it doesn't get a ton of traffic. However we still need to be able to customize the welcome email.
The plug-in didn't fix the problem. I added a new test user, and the user got the wrong email, again. Still looking for help to get this resolved.

Hiya,
Sorry there hasn't been an answer to your question just yet. I've asked Aaron or Barry to stop by here as I'm not sure what further steps to take here.
Also, what is in the email you're actually receiving? Can you copy an example here? It's odd that it sounds like you're not even receiving the complete default email.
We'll help you get this sorted. Thanks!
This is the text of the email I'm receiving. What is most problematic is that it does not include the user's randomly generated password. And since the site is 100% log-in required, even to read, they can't go anywhere with the info in it this email:
You have been added as a user on the blog [blogname] at http://blogname.tld
Log into [blogname] at http://blogname/wp-admin

Hi, can you set a few actions at set days and add another user to check if they are added to the queue of future actions - then we can work out whether it's the emailing that's not working, the queuing, or the hook into the user registration action.
It could be anyone of these causing the symptoms you describe, but with only a single action (and an immediate one) it makes it very hard to actually work out what is working and what isn't.

Have you removed the password field form the BuddyPress signup? Unless the password is passed through to the WP user_notification function it will send that email, and not the one showing the password.
This can happen if the password field is removed from the BuddyPress signup and the field that Buddypress "expects" the password information to be in, isn't populated with the randomly generated password before the email is sent.

Yes, the password field is included in the site registration. You can see the site registration at http://cisionanalytics.com/inside/register/. People who register on their own are able to set their own password. But if an admin registers them on their behalf, they are supposed to get a randomly generated password, which is not included in the email.
I have set up a 2nd Action to be sent to new users at a 1 day delay, and I also set up a new user just now. The user got the truncated email, not at all what I set up using this plugin.

The automessage email should be sent in addition to the standard ones, in the message queue - has the number of people in the queue for the second message increased?
Can you take a screenshot of the automessage page for me?
I was just browsing the post about this plugin...haven't used it yet, but rather that start a new post, I'll ask it here.
Is is possible to use html for the messages? If not, this would be a good update for this plugin.
@vason - no, it's just text at the moment.
We have a HTML email plugin coming which will integrate with the automessage plugin and enabled HTML emails.

Sounds great. Will this also enable HTML e-mail for the mass e-mail plugin?

@rpawly - answered in your other thread.

When a new users signs up at your site, you want to welcome them, and this plugin allows you to do that extra well by sending automatic welcome emails for several days after they have joined.
