Thanks for mentioning that. Sounds like maybe the Post Indexer isn't deleting anything when a blog is deleted. I'll ask the developers to take a look at this.
In the meantime, have you by any chance noticed if it does the same with non-old blogs?
For example if you had a new blog created and one post created there, then deleted the blog and the blog still showed in the search. Have you noticed anything like that?
hm, created a new blog, posted a new post, searched for it, found it, deleted post, deleted blog, searched and didn't find it. looks good but whats up with those old posts still showing up?
thanks for finding this James, unfortunately my last status is still valid: Barry's fix worked partially, meaning that it works "from the moment I implemented it" onwards, but old posts/blogs are still showing up.
Barry it is my own root server so don't worry about overloading. And this is not urgent, its about "cosmetics" - I hate seeing old stuff popping up :-)
any solution is good, just let guide me a bit please.
maybe being a bit too perfectionist here than really necessary....

ok, have tried it:
created a new blog, created a post, deleted the blog, checked the search and the post from the deleted blog doesn't show.
so I guess what I need is a tool to clean out posts of deleted blogs.
I just cleaned house with WPMU Powertools =>
-----Results of cleanup-----
17 spam blogs.
16 spam users.
1 spam comments.
3 deleted blogs.
0 abandoned blogs.
11 old inactive signups.
and that one particular example I gave above is still shown i nthe search result :-(

that didn't help, see my first post here, that example is still valid. any idea?

Again, many apologies for the lack of an update here. Barry will be along shortly to take a look with you.

If you create a new blog, create a post and then delete the post before deleting the blog, does the post disappear then?
Think I've tracked the missing hooks down, so should have an update up for testing asap.

I do hope you'll have an update for me :-)

I made a thread for adding a button for indexer, that will re-index the whole site.
That could clean up issues like this...

Hi Guys,
Just checking if it was eventually resolved in another thread or not? Or by yourself separately to us?
If so, no need to reply, that's great news.
If not, could you let us know by re-opening this topic, and we'll get onto it and helping you out asap!
Otherwise, happy days, glad you got it sorted :)
Cheers, James

Hiya Ovidiu,
Well, that's no good. Let me see what happened with the update Barry had in mind.
Thanks!

Unfortunately it's likely to require a big sql delete / update to clear out any old data.
That could get you kicked off your host for overloading the server :)
I'll think of something, but it's not likely to be pretty as it will have to go through a lot of old data to get it back into shape.

I am running my own rackspace server too.
Quad core.
Still, super keen to update my indexer table, so it fixes WPMUDEV Maps, Site Search
