Hi
I am setting up a new site in the UK and want to use the option within Marketpress to include taxes in the price I show. This works great until we pass over to Google checkout when it adds on VAT again as well. I have edited the settings in google checkout and tried the "do not charge tax" option and setting the flat rate to zero for both the UK and Europe but to no avail. Does google checkout support this method of displaying prices in MP?
Any help greatly appreciated!!

Hey theaks, hope you had a great Christmas. :-)
You might find the following link useful:

Google checkout never adds VAT/Tax for us. We don't have it set up to do so. We leave this to our billing/cart solutions.
Take care.

Hi Timothy
Merry Christmas!!
Thanks for your response. My issue is that I have a product set up on MP for £495. It is set to include tax so in the cart it shows £495 to pay which includes £85 in tax and this is shown in the breakdown. However, when I then go to pay with google checkout, google shows £594 to pay adding a further £99 as this is 20% VAT. In google i have set to do not charge tax and also tried a zero VAT rate for UK but everytime it is adding the 20%. My only solution at the moment is not to show tax included in the price. This then works. Should google just take the price MP sends it across?
Thanks again.

Hi again. :-)
I'm in the UK also. When we have people checkout it doesn't add VAT for us as we never set it up so I assume it is something set within the Merchant centre.
I wonder if you have a link so that I may observe the behaviour?
Take care.

Thanks for looking at this!! Really appreciate it.
link is here: http://www.specialtuningracing.com/store/products/
Its in sandbox mode at the moment as I am still developing this add on to the site. If you go and buy the product then go to checkout you will see it is all good. As soon as you go to google it adds on the tax again. To get to checkout you will have to go back to /store then select checkout from there. Still working on getting the widget going on the product page!
Let me know what you see,
Cheers

Hey
Yeah I see what you mean, it also does not take note of the shipping you are charging.
The following thread is fairly recent, as you read on down they discuss a very similar issue:

Let me know how you get on with this. :-)

Yeh - have read that link before posting on here. Another worrying thing was that i ran a test at the same time you did. When i selected checkout on the final screen before going to google checkout, my shipping details got replaced by yours!!

Hey
That is odd, I've never seen that before. At what point in the process did you get my details?
Out of interest when you use Paypal does it pass the shipping through?

It's at the confirm checkout screen. I have just gone back in, run another name and you are still there when i get to that screen!!
Not tried Paypal - might be the way forward!!

Hey
Just to confirm, as you saying that even when entering some different details when you hit submit it reverts to my details?
Member (joined May 2011) Likes (0)
Correct - i put in random details then when go to that screen it reverts to yours.

OK - the last problem of retaining your details might be due to caching. I have now set all url with /store not to cache and now i get my details. Still get the extra tax though in Google.

Hey again.
I was just testing and it seemed to work ok. I guess you just turned the cache off as I was testing. :-) Which cache plugin you using?
Did you try Aarons suggestion?

I am using Quick Cache.
I will give Aaron's suggestion a go now. See if I can work that one out :-)
Cheers

Hiya
Right - works fine in manual payments which doesn't surprise me. Still might be an issue though with the google checkout link. I have no idea about how that works though. Still can't see how/why google would add on the VAT if set to no tax in my settings.

Hey Theaks.
Did you get this one sorted?
If not could you ensure you are on the latest version of MarketPress and WordPress.
I'm not able to replicate this on my sandbox install :-s
Take care.

Has there been any updates to your situation? It's been a few weeks for me, and I need to get this resolved ASAP.

Hi All
No - i couldn't get this working so I switched to Paypal Express which works perfectly. I was on latest versions and it worked in manual mode. Still think it was an issue in interface with google though.
Cheers

Hey again.
Glad that Paypal Express is working for you.
I also think it was something with Google just not sure where. As I mentioned it doesn't cause an issue for me. I wonder once adding the options in Google if there is a way to permanently remove them.
Anyway, thanks for getting back to use. If you have any other issues then please feel free to open another thread. :-)
Take care.

Hey Theaks.
Looks like this issue cropped up again. Aaron investigated the matter again and found an issue which will be fixed in the next release:
http://premium.wpmudev.org/forums/topic/disable-taxes-when-using-google-checkout#post-175885
Not sure why it didn't happen to me though... But at least he found it :-)
I thought I would come and let you know :-)
