Well, wanted to mention a good competitor for marketpress just in case you didnot know him... Jigoshop, an incredible eshop plugin that uses custom types / posts that just kills.
Now you have something really "a la hauteur" that will whip you for being better hi hi hi ;)

+ Option to show stock on front end product pages
+ Store reviews
+ Product Reviews (match sku to show all reviews for same product in global marketplace reviews)
+ Cross selling - You may also like…
+ Cross selling - Related Products
+ Custom product types and filters (like tickets with event dates and widget to display by nearest event date)
+ Expire products on selected dates (filters to display by expire thus showing events in order)
+ Featured products
+ Restrict coupons to products
+ Restrict coupon uses per customer
+ No ability to add order status, like backorder
+ A text field/custom field that will allow me to enter notes, mainly for adding a tracking number for the orders which are shipped.
- Audio preview custom field. The guys from http://www.getshopped.org implemented this which is very usefull with digital downloads (especially audio). When selling a digital product one therefore uploads two digital files:
1. the original audio file the client receives once payment has been made.
2. a smaller preview audio file a client can listen to before
WP E-commerce from getshopped.org does not officially support Wordpress Multi Sites, but if they do in the near future I think they might be a competitive alternative to MarketPress.
Yes to all of those mentioned above, plus see my post of earlier today "Showing all costs prior to pay pal" and get the affiliate plugin integrated with marketpress.
We are currently migrating four shops over to marketpress which is no light undertaking but there are some features in WP ecommerce that we will miss, but with whats already been mentioned by others in this thread, that will be shortlived if they get implemented.
We really like marketpress because it's so darned fast compared to wp ecommerce and so far I haven't had to dip into the code to do things.
Thank you Aphrodite, this makes sense, especially when looking at the number of additional tables a plugin like wp ecommerce creates when one installs it.
I seems like plugins not making use of the core elements (custom post types etc.) are loosing ground to those making use of their own elements (additional mysql tables etc). Especially when wants to implement on a multisite.
We don't offer it in ours - but can't you set this up through your Google Analytics account? What do you need for integration? I haven't looked at GA in terms of product sales, but know that we track member signups here through filters and advanced segments.
If you are serious about tracking your paid search budget then being able to attribute the sales to the correct channel is vital. Only shopp and wp ecommerce have this feature (through your friend yoasts plugin).
It really is essential but not trivial - see here:
Most important to me:
+ Store reviews
+ Product Reviews (match sku to show all reviews for same product in global marketplace reviews)
I could use:
+ Cross selling - You may also like…
+ Cross selling - Related Products
+ Custom product types and filters (like tickets with event dates and widget to display by nearest event date)
+ Expire products on selected dates (filters to display by expire thus showing events in order)
Thanks
+1(00) on the Google Analytics integration. At the very least a tutorial explaining how to integrate it would be great.
I'd also love to see integration with Affiliate, but Google Analytics could offer a very basic way of tracking affiliate sales for people (who have a small number and trust with their affiliates) who give out campaign targeted links, so Analytics integration would be number one on my wishlist.
If I could add a wish for future MarketPress versions from a legal standpoint. I would need an option to integrate checkboxes for buyers to accept the "Terms & Conditions" and the "Privacy Statement" before they are able to buy and are forwarded from my pages to PayPal.
I found an option to add those checkboxes and acceptance conditions to contact pages in the PlugIn "Contact Form 7", but did not find out, how I could integrate something similar into MarketPress.
The checkboxes would make sense on the bottom of the page where the customer can enter the "Shipping Information" and both checkboxes need to be actively checked by the customer to continue his purchase.
Thank you!
Don't suppose you have seen any issues with Contact 7 and Marketpress? specifically it sending the super admin order details for sub client websites, or sending customer order emails to other sub site admins? (data protection issues)
The checkboxes would make sense on the bottom of the page where the customer can enter the "Shipping Information" and both checkboxes need to be actively checked by the customer to continue his purchase.
The filters are there, it would be a pretty easy plugin to add those, maybe modifying an exisiting terms of service plugin.
Any possibilities on the coupon restriction? I think being able to tie it to categories might be best. That way someone could create a books coupon and offer 20% off just on books, and if they want to do a single product it's just a matter of creating a special category.
The cross selling and up selling extension is powerful. That could quite easily quadruple sales. @Aaron, would something like that be possible across the network?

I know this hasn't been mentioned but I think it's been mentioned as "on radar". I know that right now you currently hide digital downloads through "obfuscation" by not revealing what the link is until it is made available to the user.
A system in place that would add some sort of security to file downloads would be great. I know it gets a little dicey but maybe something that uses the purchase ID as an encryption key to allow access to a product download. Stored in a current session cookie for new purchases, and unlockable by entering a purchase ID at a later date to grab the download if they need it again...
Thanks for this! I've been battling 500 internal server errors with another e-commerce plug-in and this one is implemented very smoothly! Much appreciated! No errors!
+ Expire/Release products on selected dates (filters to display by expire thus showing events in order) - then you can hype up the product and have the details available prior to "release" but only once the release date is reached does the "BUY" button become active. A countdown timer would be cool too!
+ Terms Acceptance checkbox during checkout
+ A place to put shipping tracking AND the ability to add it to the shipping confirmation email
Also...

I recently signed up for this specifically because of my hopes for Marketpress.
I desperately need USPS weight based shipping in order to sell books. +1 for that.
I need to be able to offer variations for digital products. (example, if I sell curriculum it comes by download, but the license would speak to how many copies they can print- right now, I have to have a separate option for the license, which then must pay shipping! Doh!) +1
More flexibility on assigning shipping costs. Eg, allowing free shipping for different variations on a single product. +1
Moreover, I was REALLY hoping to be able to migrate from my current shopping cart to this one before the Christmas sales season... so +100 for at least having USPS weight based shipping by Nov 1st! :)

Member — 12th June 2011 16:58 #
yes it works on multisite
Lifetime member! — 12th June 2011 17:26 #
yep it works, but on a site by site basis, not as market press which can build shop networks :)

Hi Aphrodite,
Looks pretty cool! I'll mention that to the team.
Anything in particular you all might want to see integrated in MarketPress?

not really. wp ecommerce exists since many time.
But for now it is just heavy an hard to use for single users. On a multisite it works, but so heavy that not an option on large networks.
Marketpress and jigoshop are very light since they both use customtypes or normal posts. :)

Hi Aaron, what about rating & reviews?
I've seen that Wp-postrating (free) or MyReview Plugin (paid) can both be integrated quite easily for product rating...
The problem comes when you want to sort global product in marketplace by rating...
Will you be working on this anytime soon?
Thanks

The feature list is brilliant.
I'll persist with MP for a while but will certainly put that on my "must demo" list.

- Digital download manager
as Jann stated above
I would love to see this functionality as I need right now ;)

b. Product reviews.
