From an SEO perspective, there is no way to add custom meta description and meta keywords to the 'homepage' when using the TRIDEN theme.
I can hard code this by editing the theme files, but then any blogs within the network will have the same meta content.
Maybe i'm missing something - but where can I edit this meta content within the theme?

I'm pretty sure that our adapted All in one SEO plugin adds them in dynamically for you:
http://premium.wpmudev.org/project/sitemaps-and-seo-wordpress-mu-style
Alternatively you can give it a new folder and theme name (top of style.css) and then just use a custom one for your homepage.
Either of those look like a possibility for you?

Hi James,
thank you for the follow up. The SEO plugin works for Pages and Posts, but if you use the "Homepage Feature" for Triden:
Theme Options > Blog Main Settings > Custom Homepage
there is nothing to generate meta desc and meta keyword content for the homepage. Basically the custom homepage is widget-generated. One suggestion would be to add keyword and description boxes to the Theme Options page.
In the mean-time, I will simply hard-code these into the theme header itself.
Thanks again!
Jeff

Isn't there the wp_header tag?
But yes, I agree, it would be a nice addition to the options... in fact, an SEO options menu would be a pretty nice addition to every theme!

Hi I'm a newbie. I am trying to decide between using :
Sitemaps and SEO - Wordpress MU Style or Headspace2 for seo.
Can anyone tell me if they will work together without conflict please and if not which of these 2 plugins they recommend over the other please. Any feedback would be much appreciated.

Take a look along the right hand side of the home page for a bit labeled "Create a new post in..." Click on the subforum you want. The form is at the bottom of the page. Please be sure to search first.

Hello Dr Mike
Thanks for taking the time to reply to my question - but i still cannot post a question in the forums and i am getting very frustrated by this. i go to both the wpmudev home page and the forums home page and nowhere is there a form to post a question. i click on Create a new post in...
Topics with no replies Topics with no tags and search for an open topic - nothing similar found. i try to find a box to post a new question and find nothing at th ebottom fo the page. i can only find a box at the bottom of an already open topic / thread - like this one. where am i going wrong please???
Thanks in advance - Gail

Hi Gail, on the top right hand side of the forum homepage (http://premium.wpmudev.org/forums/) underrneath 'Create a new post in...' you have list such as Plugin Support, Theme Support etc. Can you try clicking on one of the titles in the list,
For example. try the Beginners WordPress MU Discussion link (http://premium.wpmudev.org/forums/forum/beginners-wordpress-mu-discussion). When you click on that link you should see at the very bottom of http://premium.wpmudev.org/forums/forum/beginners-wordpress-mu-discussion page the New Topic post that you need to complete to start your new thread (provided you are logged into your account). If you still cant see that post area - can you tell us what web browser you are using?

Hi Gail, absolutely no problem at all. I've been caught out by forums myself (but don't tell the others or they will chuckle) and similar for Edublogs users which is why I have instructions on my blog explaining how to use Edublogs forum - http://theedublogger.com/about/getting-started-with-edublogs/

I am trying to input meta keywords specifically in my homepage as well. InfiniteSEO does a good job of allowing me to do this with each post and descriptions for many different types of pages but I want to add meta keywords my home page. I have the Nelo theme and this does not have an area to place keywords on the custom homepage. I understand I can place meta keywords in the header but, like jmraab, they will apply to the entire site and I do not want this. I am not a php coder by any means but I am learning as I go so based on my research I wonder if this coding makes sense for what I want.
Will the above code apply the keywords I specify exclusively to the homepage? Do I need to add any other coding to ensure I do not negatively effect anything?
