Hi,
I have a page setup with the Q&A Plugin. The default behavior seems to be to display "ALL QUESTIONS" - There is no sorting so it can be hard to see what is relevant if just browsing.
Is it possible to have different sections / categories for questions?
For example, when I go to my Q&A page I would like to maybe see first a list of the different categories where I could ask a questions e.g.
* Football
* Rugby
* Tennis
* Squash
Then when I clicked on a category I would see all the questions for that category.
Thanks

Hi Stephen :)
The standard buttons above all questions are: Questions, Unanswered, Ask a Question. Now there are great widgets that you can put to use in this case. The widgets available are:
- Questions: List of questions selectable from recent, most popular and unanswered ones
- Question Categories: A list of question categories
- Question Tags: The most popular question tags in cloud format
- Users with Highest Reputation: A list of users having highest reputation points
An easy way to achieve what you're looking for is to put the category list displayed as a widget in the sidebar.
I haven't seen any requests to add the categories as a dropdown under the current buttons, but we can always ask the Developer for feedback on this.
Hope my feedback thus far was helpful. Let me know if you require anything else.

Hi Gina,
Maybe you misunderstood my question but I was not looking for a drop down. I was looking for a list on the first page of categories.
I have played around with the widgets you include but the category list is just a search on my site for that category. When I click a category I get my standard site results back for it, like searching custom posts.
What I am trying to find out is if a developer can help me understand how to change the template to have it so the questions tab would first be
* Category List
and then when I choose a category I get what it looks like today, so like a layer above if that makes sense?

Hi,
There are already category pages for questions. When you click on a category inside the widget, it should take you to the category page in which there are the questions only belonging to that category, something like this:
http://example.com/questions/categories/sample-category/
Of course you need to create a question category and assign the question to that category first (Or during submission, question author should select it).
I am not sure that I understand your request. Do you want to ask a question only belonging to a certain category?
Or do you mean filtering of the main question archive page based on category selection?
Can you elaborate please?
Cheers,
Hakan

Apologies, but I am not quite sure I understand correctly what you're trying to achieve. If you don't mind to expand a bit on it, please Stephen?
Thank you in advance and look forward to receive your feedback.

Hi Gina,
I wanted to take a week off from these topics before revisiting so we can do so with a fresh head...
I know you asked for further explanation on this topic and have put together a quick jpeg for you will prob help.
Essentially we are looking to have a categories page to distinguish the questions into buckets. A user visiting the site would first choose a category and then when they choose that category they go to a page which has a list of questions assigned only with that particular category.
Would you be able to help us understand the possibilities here?

Hiya Stephen,
This seems the same as the questions here:
http://premium.wpmudev.org/forums/topic/add-additional-question-filters
Is there anything unique that needs to be addressed here? My answer to that question should sufficiently provide the guidance you need for this one, but let me know if that's not the case.
Thanks!
