installation problems error establishing a database connection
Hi
I have checked and double checked my database information to ensure that what I have entered in mysql is the same as what I have entered in the Wordpress Installation page. I have tried everything I can figure out and still get:
"Error establishing a database connection"
whenever I press submit.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

No, I am trying to install WPMU.
I have followed the WPMU guide and have also looked at the codex.

error establishing a database connection
That error means your MySQL username, password, db name, or host setting is wrong. Make sure that the MySQL username exists and that the password is correct. Also make sure the database exists and the name is correct.
If you are 100% sure everything is correct then it's best to contact your host.

I have the same problem. I made sure user name, password, and database name are correct. However, the DB host name is not localhotst. So I put the correct host name instead of localhost. It showed error establishing a database connection, and I cannot even go back to WPMU setting page (index.php) any more.
I looked at wp-config.php file, and the DB host name is still localhost.
I manually changed the host name from localhost to my host name in wp-config.php file. Then Fatal Error message came up.
Your advise would be appreciated.

Fatal error usually puts an actual error in the webserver's error logs. Can you please check?
Who are you hosted with? What type of hosting platform are they using?
