I had Buddypress installed and activated on my site, but determined that I didn't really need it. I do want to have a "forums" area (using the EduClean/EduKnows themes) so I am trying to now install bbPress according to the instructions in your support manual. When I open the page in my browser for "forums" (the public_html folder where my bbPress files were loaded), it returns a "Page not found!" and does not let me continue with the installation (setting up the database, etc.). Can someone here please help me??

Thanks... I'm not really one for videos, and this one is 20+ mins and seems dated. I know "how" to install it, but I'm having an issue. Something with the config file must not be right because it won't run the install for bbPress.
did you go into your bb-config.php file and put info for database and
define( 'BB_AUTH_KEY',
define( 'BB_SECURE_AUTH_KEY',
define( 'BB_LOGGED_IN_KEY',;
define( 'BB_NONCE_KEY',
matched with your wordpress config.php file ?
This is why I'm asking for help - these instructions are not working for me. I am new to this, so I'm not even sure where the server's error logs are located. But from my experience, it just seems that it's not finding the "executable" to begin the installation. Perhaps the installation steps have changed since the manual was created??
I am on the road today, I will check these things later tonight.
apensyl ....I spent 2 days finding the correct install instructions ...so my advice is spend the 20 minutes looking at the video link I gave you..It might be dated...but it finally made sense to me.
I even researched bbpress forums for correct install and didn't find anything as good as this video.
you will have to go into the bb-config.php file and change the database info and the key code matched to your wordpress key.
Again...take your time...follow the install instructions on the video and you will succeed.

Hiya folks,
@apensyl, verify the advice given. Also, do you have anything in your server's error logs?
@foofriendfinder, firstly, welcome to WPMU DEV :D Thanks for your willingness to help out here :)

@foodfriendfinder - no I have not done that, it was not part of the instructions per the manual from WPMUDEV: http://premium.wpmudev.org/wpmu-manual/installing-bbpress/

So you have fresh files of bbpress installed in a previously empty public_html/forums/ folder?
