I find that for every theme developed by Incsub, there's not at all a unique typography for each theme. The theme I'm currently on has wonderful typography, with very stylish heading tags and that's the only feature in the theme which still delays me from switching to the BlogsMU Theme.
Every themes here has he default - large - medium - small font size style and nothing else fancy.
I see the top-level navigation stretches over two lines, which is a bit too much real-estate for my needs. Which file should I look at editing to put all the navigation options into one line?
@Kenneth: perhaps getting such comments in at our betas would be good as we always ask for feedback then rather than on a theme launch post - also you can request a theme at any point. You may also want to explore our themes deeper as we allow out of the box users to decide what font they will use.
@andre7: the top level is 2 sections - one for buddypress and one for page navigation - it's over 2 as often with such business sites people have a ton of pages so want to have enough space. However you can edit library/components/buddypress/buddypress-navigation.php:
Now I 'assume' you want to move the buddypress stuff just up to the top one?
If that is the case then you need to remove lines 11 - end and then after line 6
I love this theme! Nice and clean and easy to modify without doing a lot of work to the CSS file.
I have one question - when I tested out the slideshow, I put a url in for both of my two tabs and when I click on the call to action it sends me to the next slide and not to the URL that is specified. Why would that happen?
@helenwilliams: I've just uploaded a tweak which I think should resolve this for you - it wasn't doing it for me in all cases but can you try the latest file version. Thank you for your kind words - hope you enjoy the theme.
Thanks. That works well for the link option. The only other thing I can see being a bit confusing to users is if I use an image and they expect to click it to go somewhere. I can't seem to get a URL to attach to a slide that uses the image only option.
@helenswilliams: I'll consider making images also clickable however if you've got a button to click do you think perhaps that would be enough? I assume you mean the images in the slideshow - you'd like the option for those to also be clickable? If so, I can't promise it will be done but I can put on the list for enhancements.
Thanks. The button works well but I know sometimes a slideshow with a full image works nicely and most often you do click it to get to what is being promoted. That's just me - maybe if others request it, then maybe you can put it on the wish list.
@helenwilliams: sure it won't be too hard to do I can think about adding it in the buddypress 1.2.4 update - that should drop soon. So far it's only one of a few things on list so more than likely to get in :)
@match11: What is your theme install path? Do you under wp-content/themes have product and product-child as folders? Also do you have any plugins apart from buddypress enabled if so perhaps you could try disabling those. Alternatively maybe our install PDF's will assist you.
Fantastic theme...but I've hit two problems with it on a test installattion.
The colour of the header font doesn't change with the presets, and I can't see anywhere I can set this in the custom styling.
Also, if I try and save a large header logo on the Branding page, when I hit save, I'm re-directed to a page which says url not found. It's the theme main page with Sorry, we can't find the content you're looking for at this URL. Please try selecting a menu item from above or to the side of this message to get where you'd like to go. in the middle of it.
This doesn't happen if I just save text changes. No plugins, and I've followed the .pdf and video instructions.
@gtn: You would have to change the link colour for that to work as it's a link. However, I will look at adding that feature to do specific colouring on the header in the next update - we're waiting for 1.2.4 to be updated and we'll be pushing an enhancement / update to this theme out.
Hmm, not sure why you can't save an image for your logo. What do you have under your wp-content/themes directory? Do you have product and product-child as directories? Could you also please maybe provide a link so I can see at least from the front what your set up is along with letting me know if you are using buddypress, wordpress and / or mu?
Yes, I have product and product-child as directories, and I'm using buddypress and wordpress (single-user), both the latest version. Here's a link to the site (it's just a test network, and contains no real content)
Attached are two images - the one with the blue in the admin bar is how the error page displays in Chrome, the other is how it displays in Firefox.
This is also after having deleted the header text, and attempting to replace it with an image. Hosting is Hostgator, btw.
It seems to display correctly (as in showing the blue admin bar) in safari and camino - I'm using a mac. And Firefox will display the preset styles correctly - it's only the default css which seems to be the problem.
@gtn: Hmm but haven't you got other issues or is that thread you posted the same one - trying to determine what is up with your set up as this isn't something I can replicate in testing (I use a mac also).
@gtn: So you have it set to default.css but you are have the following issues:
1. You can't link in an image into the url from your media library on save you get a page not found.
2. You can't see any images in the design using default.css on firefox.
I am not saying this is machine specific I think it is however your set up specific. Can you confirm the above and if that is the case please email to the contact form on this site a login for me that has admin access so I can see what is going on with your site. I will then login but it may not be today but I will do it once have those details.
For reference here is an illustration of it working on my site so I can confirm it is something site specific for you.
Thanks for this - I'll drop you a note before the end of the day. Incidentally, I've just installed the theme on another site, and found that it has exactly the same problems in Firefox with the default CSS: preset styles are fine, and as they're all I need for that particular site, it's fine.
Incidentally, it would be good if there were some easy way of inserting a leaderboard ad just below the admin bar at the top of the page. Ad placement is a bit problematic without a conventional sidebar, as there's really nowhere above the fold (unless I'm missing something).
But as mentioned at the start of this discussion, it's a great theme.
I've found out why it's not been possible to display a custom image instead of the domain name text: you have to make sure that in the Reading Settings the Front Page is set to display Your latest posts.
However, this doesn't resolve the CSS display problems with the default.css style in Firefox.
@gtn: I went in made sure it was on default as you said and you can see the attached screenshot is from my screen in firefox. I'm honestly not sure why yours is not working. Is it only on one machine - if so I would suggest you cleared the cache on your machine.
By default the front page settings should point to latest posts therefore that is why we didn't say to change those. You can of course change them and link up a template but you'd have to link up templates for that.
Thanks for this. I checked the Firefox problem is on two separate machines - one a Macbook which is a friend's and newer than my iMac - both of which have the latest software updates.
I'm using the beta of Firefox 3.6.4, and I cleared the cache etc. - the problem is still there. Truly bizarre! Anyway, the presets work, which is fine for me for now.
It's probably worth pointing up the front page settings issue if you revise the documentation. If you've been using another theme, like the default, for a while, it's easy to forget you've changed things.
@gtn: hmmm my only initial thoughts is have you tried not using the beta firefox - why however a browser would be loosing images.. that's certainly a puzzle.
I think once it's out of beta if this is still an issue we can of course update documentation but in the case of fast changing software we can't cover betas of even browsers yet as our heads would spin keeping up :) I will monitor this one though so don't feel I'm putting it under the carpet so to speak - if nothing else I hate not knowing why something doesn't work like that.
@gtn: I did manage to recreate this on the nightly build of firefox as was playing about over the weekend so have uploaded a fix - normally we do not cover early versions like that however, as I saw it I've updated a fix. Hope it fixes for you.
I would like to integrate the search box with the global site search plugin from this site. An integration guide would be very good as I think others would like to do the same thing (this theme is great as a front page theme).
I would also like to be able to insert the wp-signup link generated by the Anti-Splog plugin in the slides. Right now, I'm not allowed to enter php code and the bbcode/wp-code thing doesn't generate a link in the slides either. Php code can't be used in the field used to add a link button either. It would be great to add a button saying "Sign up now" while using the Anti-Splog plugin, if possible.
@Qlof: There is no real need for an exact intergration guide you can just use the normal steps here: http://premium.wpmudev.org/project/global-site-search/installation/. Now if you are looking to not just have it on a page then you need to start a new thread as that is customisation of that plugin. I will note I am not sure how or even if that could be done as not explored it myself hence suggest the thread starting in the plugin section as relates to that.
Again for the anti-splog, this is more customisation and I'm not sure ever if that would work by directly putting in the slideshow file of library/components/featured-slider.php. Unfortunately I would suggest not doing that however you may want to post in the plugin section on this site as the developer of anti-splog may have a work around or suggestion - not promising but they may.
If you can pass the content of the panels when they are displayed through the "the_content" filter it will filter the shortcode. Something like changing:
<?php echo $panel; ?>
@monica: What is the install path of your theme? Is it wp-content/themes/product and wp-content/themes/product-child? Also do you have the compatibility plugin off for buddypress as you need to have it off.
I repeatedly put in the title change and eventually it took and now shows my site title instead of "Product" and the slider in Firefox, but no images. Edited: Eventually took the title, still refuses to show site description.
I don't have the compatibility plug in here, I just installed buddypress...took a hard look at my plugins and deactivated a php executionable one I installed when I was trying to do something. No diff...no image showing from theme options. Very few plugins other than WPMU Dev ones...
Added: I can use the images just fine in BlogMU, my problem is with the themes I want to use...no images in bp corporate or daily either. Arghh.
@monica: I think you need to start a thread and also provide a link as if it's not just this theme then we need to see why as no other users are reporting such things. I need to know the following:
1. A link to see
2. What system are you using as in version of buddypress and wordpress or wordpress mu - if you are using wordpress 3.0 be warned we do not yet cover that version as it's still in beta.
3. Confirmation that you have all plugins apart from buddypress turned off and still get the issue.
When you say I can use images fine it's more what do you mean... do they not show in posts? Can you not upload via the media library and link in the theme options?
I'll happily assist you once know more information.
I'll open a new thread if I can't figure it out. My site in on maintenance mode, not live yet.
It's still 2.92
It's obviously something I'm doing wrong rather than the theme. So frustrating. I can upload images fine. I can link. They just don't show. I put up a test post with an image and it doesn't show at all either on the blog front page or when I try to view it.
The only buddypress theme that works for me is the blogmu and the default buddypress theme.
@monica: I have yet to find a site we can't work around and get running with a theme so please do start a thread and I'm sure we can work through things.
@gmcoffi: You just click those and you should be able to see them. However, if you can't there may be an issue with another plugin clashing with the javascript. If that is the case could you try removing any back end plugins one by one and see if it resolves.
Thanks for the previous reply. still not sure what is the problem so I'm using the "Buddypress Daily" theme which works fine for me so far.
However I can't seem to have access or see what is this box that seem not to appear in the demo.
1) Could you check the picture below and tell me what I might be missing. Do you know what it is?
2) I also see a fatal error on line 21 when I try to insert an ads on the sidebar. I'n mot really literate when it comes to "php"
About the previous message, Here is the this is the message it say: <br Fatal error: Call to undefined function bp_site_name() in /home/jmfnetwo/public_html/uniteddream.tv/wp-content/themes/bp-daily/library/components/advert-sidebar.php on line 72
@gmcoffi: Yep just one today to fix some issues with new 3.0 menus and some plugins for BuddyPress. I can't replicate the issue using that hence suggesting. If you can though make sure you keep the right theme to the right topic.. this is about Product introduction and you're using Daily - just saves confusion :)
@gmcoffi: If you can please in future start new threads for unrelated subjects - this is about the Product theme as said. I need a link also in the new thread to your site as I can't see that on my installations. My 'guess' is you've not configured the sign up box option to off (under theme options).
I am wondering if there has been a response to the question about the header. I would like my header to be a different color than the rest of the links. Alternatively, I would prefer to put a logo there, but it seems that custom styling supersedes theme options.
Also, I set a color preference for the footer, but it is not being used. Likewise some of the page navigation colors. I have selected the default style, and am working in custom styling.

<?php echo $panel; ?>
to
<?php echo apply_filters('the_content', $panel); ?>Member — 23rd May 2010 (2 years ago) #
Really love this theme, but it isn't working for me.
Images aren't showing...theme options aren't taking at all. I can't even change the title. It would be "Product" forever.
Slider shows in Chrome, not in Firefox.
It's set to default, child theme is loaded. Can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. Too bad, because I really loved the look of this theme.

@monica: What is the install path of your theme? Is it wp-content/themes/product and wp-content/themes/product-child? Also do you have the compatibility plugin off for buddypress as you need to have it off.
Member — 23rd May 2010 (2 years ago) #
The install path is as you stated.

Hello,
I really like the Product theme - it's really neat - Could you please tell me how to make the Custom Styling work.
On the picture attached, the red marks show all the tabs I can't have access to. Any idea?

@gmcoffi: You just click those and you should be able to see them. However, if you can't there may be an issue with another plugin clashing with the javascript. If that is the case could you try removing any back end plugins one by one and see if it resolves.

Hello,
Thanks for the previous reply. still not sure what is the problem so I'm using the "Buddypress Daily" theme which works fine for me so far.
Best regards,

@gmcoffi: Yep just one today to fix some issues with new 3.0 menus and some plugins for BuddyPress. I can't replicate the issue using that hence suggesting. If you can though make sure you keep the right theme to the right topic.. this is about Product introduction and you're using Daily - just saves confusion :)

Just reinstalled the Buddypress Daily theme, the error "php" is gone thank you for your help (sorry for being difficult)
- As for the issue I have with the top right of my sidebar it is not fixed yet - Any idea? (look at the screenshot).

Guy-Michel

@gmcoffi: If you can please in future start new threads for unrelated subjects - this is about the Product theme as said. I need a link also in the new thread to your site as I can't see that on my installations. My 'guess' is you've not configured the sign up box option to off (under theme options).
Member — 15th July 2010 (1 year ago) #
oops! sorry about all the confusion.

Hello,
I am wondering if there has been a response to the question about the header.
Thanks

@jayncali61: Please can you start a new thread with your issues specifically linking to your site this is an old thread announcing the release of the theme hence things will get lost as you are finding.
Member — 21st September 2010 (1 year ago) #
Sure thing. I put it here because I saw an earlier post with the same question. LOL - I see what you mean!

@jayncali61: Cool :) I'm going to close this one up I think it's getting a bit unwieldy.
