- 3 simple but effective colour variations
- Simply loads of configuration options for the 3D slideshow

- default images dont show is it normal ?
@Aphrodite: There is an option in the menu called (assuming you are using the latest version) Showcase. That is where all the options are - it's in a different place with this theme. Not sure what you mean by images don't show. We're looking into the theme upload option.
@terry hall: Glad you like it.
@monica: You currently would have to create a page calling that custom post but we're working on some automatic methods of calling it possibly.
well the demo site show the complete theme using default (nice !) images. When installed the them is just empty :( so how to make a demo for example in a showcase page for premium registration ?
Few remarques :
- you could mention the image size needed for the showcase
- about taking/uploading images from/into the media galery. As in many other themes, this link takes you to the galery, you upload the file, take the link and then return to the theme options, set the link, and do it again for the next image/logo/bkg images. quite annoying ;)
isnt it possible to open the galery popup wich download ant give you the like but remain on the page where you are :)
1. It is 980px
2. I think this adds scripting that often conflicts so I'd say no to that one myself (last thing we want is so much scripting it all falls over or clashes with something in the admin). That being said that's my personal feelings but I will pass those thoughts on.
@terry hall: I think that's a good idea let me see if that can get done - can't say what version yet though
@monica: Cool +2 on something at this stage means it's obviously needed so let me see what I can get done. Yeah I've already put forward a suggestion about the portfolio post type so this could be what comes up there. I'll keep you posted about updates.
When trying to use on sub blog on WPMU 3.0 cant change intro images! have uploaded and replaced images1.jpg through images4.jpg now all it shows is gray square with text showing loading images. You should really think about using themes on sub blog not just parent blog!

@petem not sure about slow to be fair this last week saw 4 beta themes and then this one. There also have been a lot of plugin improvement releases. However if you do feel unhappy you can either contact about it or start a post - members are listened to. Perhaps that is the better route if it's not this theme directly that is the issue.
Tammie,
I eagerly downloaded this Theme and was surprised to discover it doesn't have any BuddyPress functionality built in. Although reviewing the features list, it doesn't claim to, it just seems weird that ANY theme would be released to WPMUdev.org would lack those features. Since BuddyPress functionality is pretty to implement, I hope you will add it soon.
@Aphrodite: By normal do you mean slideshow off? If so I've already put that forward as an option for pages. The BuddyPress pages wouldn't have that slideshow as far as I can see that would make no sense - unless users request it. You could very easily end up with very slow pages.
@Aphrodite: Ah yes well if it had BP added it would still be there you'd just have to remove navigation and theme options. But lets worry about that as and when if we even do that.
I was playing with a Cu3er 3D Slideshow integration but this will save time... thanks Tammie.
In reference to the slow releases, I’ve only been with wpmudev a few months and haven’t released a project publically so I’ve been in research mode which has given time for consideration and I too have pondered the question of what should I expect from a club like this.
I’ve looked at over 100 theme groups/clubs and my business partner and I have tested some 1000+ plug-ins and even sorted through 4000 of the 8000 or so plug-ins by date from the WordPress repository to locate the best, find solutions, etc. We’ve even built (building) several technology demos sites.
And… I realized that while it was a smart move to embrace the WordPress family we entered the fray as the once faithful blogging platform took a giant step towards a full CMS solution.
I can understand what @petem is expressing but my interpretation is that many WordPress based companies have had many years of smooth incremental improvement but WordPress 3 is a transitional product beyond the typical WordPress upgrade path and this is going to create a bit of chaos.
I’ve seen more than one club work, though it was pre-announced, to bring their library into full WP3 compliance. One programmer I spoke with expressed a bit of frustration saying it took focus away from his regular priority, required site updates for language… but that it was worthwhile.
I’ve yet to find a perfect “club” regardless of price and have paid from $25,000 to $20 over the years.
We each buy from a different perspective and need. @petem may pay for variety while I am paying for support. In my opinion, considering the WP3 transition, I am pleased with both here yet I can see that for some business needs I might find myself of a different opinion.
I have a WPMUDEV wish list, who doesn’t: (100% documentation structure standards (not Sue’s part), every theme BP ready, a glossary (& index) plug-in, Google maps, one master plug-in interface (install) and will share more on the board over time.
I really hate dead links but pleased that only one comes to mind here, maybe bbPress related I think.
Should you stumble across this thread, premium.wpmudev.org offers a combination of plug-ins, themes and support, and though I tried, I can’t find another company even attempting to make equivalent offers at any price point, literally.
In fact, if you do, let me know so I can try them.
If your needs focus on themes I’d recommend this site and several of the theme design clubs a number of of whom use WPMUDEV… Aloha!
If you need a fantastic WordPress theme with a unique look and feel, this theme is sexy and you’ll receive excellent support… and it beats the hell out of doing it by hand!
I've got testing to do and a few questions for the developers here over the next few weeks…
Nice work Tammie and the Whole WPMUDEV Team with the WP3 move!
We'll be doing another comprehensive survey shortly to find out the needs of all of our members and you;re always welcome to request here in the forums.
And we love nothing more than constructive criticism... well, speaking personally it makes my day :D
To be honest too, I'm hoping that you'll find that over the next 6 - 12 months WPMU DEV will exceed what we currently offer by several degrees, starting with the brilliant membership and ecommerce plugins that Barry and Aaron have just released and of course the great themes work that Tammie is doing too... with a whole lot more coming up.
The theme rocks and it was right on time. Somehow my personal site's database seemed to just crash and I lost all of the info (it was probably my fault) , so I needed to rebuild quickly ( was going to redesign anyway, it really sucked, but it made the phone ring).
Just happened to check in here on the day you released it and it was just what the doctor ordered.
Was able to get a new site up in a matter of hours and most of that was spent on images and trying to remember what was on the old site.
I like it a lot. It's simple, with a splash of flash. Perfect for what I needed it for.

Hi Tammie,
The theme looks great!
I'm using it with RTL, but unfortunately it causes some CSS issues. screenshot attached.
1. when viewing a single post - footer begins way up
2. flash 3d slider is aligned to the left instead to the center- couldn't figure out how to move it...
I really like this theme and would very much like to use it for my new site.

@amirrainer: This theme does not support rtl at this moment sorry. You would have to do css changes to get that working.
@Tammie. Me again. This is such a nice theme. I am impressed. I had an issue with images as I thought they need to be uploaded in the image file of the theme. But looking @info@sbemedia said I can upload images via the media up loader.
The text next to where the image name is added tells a story about that full urls cannot be used.

The suggestion according to this image is different
@Johan - Hi, I am Adam - the designer of this theme. I understand your question, may I ask where have you put the image? (In what folder). The image must be in the "images" folder, and you must not put the full url but just the full name of the image (or the path if you putted it in a folder inside the "images" folder).

1) If I understand what you mean by the "image folder" correctly then you may refer to the image folder with in the Showcase theme directory. If that's true then I can only use the theme on one blog.
2) If you are using "image folder" to mean the image directory as set for the Media Manager then the theme is not limited to one blog.

@AdamGold The theme folder is at spiritpathwaysfoundation.com/wp-content/themes/showcase/images/
1) If images are uploaded here they need to be uploaded under different file names (obviously).
2) The way that I understand it is that I will have to give blog owners who want to use the theme FTP logins to upload their images.
Does this theme support widgets? I see active widgets via dashboard. The theme seems to support many widget areas. Non of these active widgets show on the front end. (Your demo also have no widgets, they may not be active.)
@Johan - By the way, about your question about the URLs.. I have fixed this, now you can enter a full path of your image. I am just waiting for Tammie to upload the fix.
@AdamGold Well done on the image fix. Allowing full URL is great news.
Someone else asked if you could select to have the rotating banner on a page or not. The problem that users have is that the banner hides the content below and they are not "thinking" that they can scroll down. One solution would be to upload rotating images with a smaller height. I will try that.
Is it possible to have a place where you can select more than 3 posts to show?
Thanks in any case for a very nice and simple theme.
Can you give me feedback on the option to remove the slide show from some pages and if the image upload fix has been updated on the latest release.
txs
@Johan: I'm going to be dealing with this theme for you sorry about the delay in response.
Firstly the call to the slideshow is in header.php so it's not as easy as would be if in a page. I may change that actually as a call but until I get a chance to review the code you want to be aware of is:
If I was going to do it what I would do would be copy the above code, cut if from header.php and put it in a file. Save that file then call it on the page you wanted using locate_template that or wrap it in header.php in a is_home call - either should work.
The image upload should be fixed but please if you get any issues just open a new thread as this was the release one and we need to have issues in new threads for consistency and ease of dealing - hope that is cool.
@Johan: Due to issues with the 1.2 version I have had to revert to 1.1 in the way it calls images. There is a work around for placing full urls / non image/ urls but for now that is the only method.
I will do my upmost to at some point in the not too far off future get a fix going for this as I am now going to be sorting this theme out. However, it may not be immediate for you so the fix in the post linked is the best method until then. My apologies for this but in testing today I found that 1.2 simply had too many issues to not revert.
I had this theme on two sites and in both cases the owners of the site told me that they like it but would like to have an option where the slide show is not shown on other page than the home page.
Until I hear from you on the slider issue - selected only for the home page - I'll have to stop using it :-(
Sad as it's beautiful.
@Johan: Erm I never said I'd add that as an option you would have to add that as code (we may later). It's really easy to do though. What I will be looking at is the image url issue. For now though the option to not show the flash slideshow on anything apart from home will not be added. I will put it down for a later change but if you want to start a new thread I will happily work through the switching with you for home page or not - it's not hard at all.

Ok, we've just done an update to this one including bug fixes and new things. Here is the changelog:
- NEW: Added option to show slideshow on all pages or just home page
- NEW: Added option to add path to files OR have fixed to images/
- NEW: Added a child theme
- Made reset work - it will reset all though
- Fixed issue with some browsers and slideshow
As you can see we've included some of the most requested functionality and now you can literally place any url and it will pick up your images. To add an image now:
1. Leave the field for image location blank and it will look under your theme directory/images/
2. Add images/ and it will look under your theme directory/images/
3. Add a location and it will look for each image you pick up
You can easily reset by going back to using images/
You can also using a drop down select to show slideshow on home or all pages.

@Johan: I've asked Adam who is one of our theme designers to take a look at this issue for me, he should be along to help you at some point soon.

I have an image that I want to add to the banner. http://directory.spiritpathwaysfoundation.com/files/2010/08/spdirlogo2.jpg
This url does not work. I have tried
/files/2010/08/spdirlogo2.jpg
And it does not work.

@Johan - By image folder I mean "images" folder in the theme directory. Why can't you use it in more than 1 blog?
Member — 17th August 2010 (1 year ago) #
@AdamGold The theme folder is at spiritpathwaysfoundation.com/wp-content/themes/showcase/images/
1) If images are uploaded here they need to be uploaded under different file names (obviously).
2) The way that I understand it is that I will have to give blog owners who want to use the theme FTP logins to upload their images.
Am I correct or is there another way?
Member — 17th August 2010 (1 year ago) #
@Johan - You are correct, but that's just for the slider. Unfortuantly there's no other way to do it, I will try though.

@AdamGold Thanks. Not a problem. At least now I know ;-)

Hi
Does this theme support widgets? I see active widgets via dashboard. The theme seems to support many widget areas. Non of these active widgets show on the front end. (Your demo also have no widgets, they may not be active.)
Member — 24th August 2010 (1 year ago) #
@Johan - The theme supports footer widgets only.
Member — 24th August 2010 (1 year ago) #

@Johan Sorry but I didn't quite understand what you're asking. What do you mean by "rotating banner"?
Adam.
Member — 25th August 2010 (1 year ago) #
@Adam The slide show :-)
Member — 27th August 2010 (1 year ago) #
@AdamGold the rotating banner = slide show.
Can you give me feedback on the option to remove the slide show from some pages and if the image upload fix has been updated on the latest release.

@Johan: I'm going to be dealing with this theme for you sorry about the delay in response.
Firstly the call to the slideshow is in header.php so it's not as easy as would be if in a page. I may change that actually as a call but until I get a chance to review the code you want to be aware of is:
Now you could do a is_home check:
http://codex.wordpress.org/Conditional_Tags
If I was going to do it what I would do would be copy the above code, cut if from header.php and put it in a file. Save that file then call it on the page you wanted using locate_template that or wrap it in header.php in a is_home call - either should work.
The image upload should be fixed but please if you get any issues just open a new thread as this was the release one and we need to have issues in new threads for consistency and ease of dealing - hope that is cool.

@Johan: Due to issues with the 1.2 version I have had to revert to 1.1 in the way it calls images. There is a work around for placing full urls / non image/ urls but for now that is the only method.
http://premium.wpmudev.org/forums/topic/images-not-showing-in-slider?replies=7#post-52963
I will do my upmost to at some point in the not too far off future get a fix going for this as I am now going to be sorting this theme out. However, it may not be immediate for you so the fix in the post linked is the best method until then. My apologies for this but in testing today I found that 1.2 simply had too many issues to not revert.

@Tammie Thanks.
