Hi,
I'm wondering if the YouTube add-on only generates the embedded YouTube video and is ignoring the text which comes with the video?
Please see the feed: http://gdata.youtube.com/feeds/api/users/RTVHK/uploads
The videos get imported perfectly but the containing text isn't vissible anymore when opening a post.
You can check the last imported video (from above feed) here
Thanks,
Age

Hi Age
Thank you for your post and being part of our Community!
I had a look at your links and if I understand correctly when using the Autoblog plugin with posts containing videos and text, only the videos display when being posted to the blog, correct?
Just have to be clear on the problem so I can discuss this with the Developer and also look into this myself.
Have a good day and look forward to receive your feedback.

Hi Gina,
That's correct. But please note that I activated the YouTube add-on within AutoBlog.
Thanks,
Age

Hi Age
I know you have an active site, but any chance that you can switch to the standard WP Twenty Eleven theme to check if this problem persist when you change themes. I noticed that you've created a custom theme based on the BuddyPress Daily theme, so I assume you've done some customization. Also, if you can deactivate any other plugins that are running with the AutoBlog to see if the problem persist after.
I'm sorry for this tedious task, but the Developer would like to know what these results are before he jumps into code, trying to find a solution.
Thank you in advance for your cooperation.
Have a wonderful day!

Hi Gina,
No problem testing with a different theme. Thought I didn't customize it,I just made a copy because some language couldn't be translated using the language files because it was hard-coded in the php files. Tried a child theme but that didn't work for me.
I deacivated the feed I'm using and when there becomes a new item in it I will switch to the twenty eleven theme, deactivate all other plugins and run autoblog using the youtube add-on.
I'll let you know!

Hi Gina,
Just to let you know today there is a new item available in the feed to import.
So I think I will switch to the twenty-eleven theme, disable all other plugins and try to import the items today. I will let you knopw the results afterwards.

hmm, it wasn't a new item... was edited so auto-blog didn't import it.
Will have to wait again for a new item.. sorry.

Hi!
Below are the results:
First deactivated all plugins except autoblog

Switched theme to twenty eleven

Processed the feed

Result was 1 new post waiting for approval

When edited only the youtube url is in it, no text

As you can see there is text in the feed available

Hope you have enough information now :)

Hello Age!
Very sorry for the delay on this one :) I'll be asking Barry to chime in on this one as it seems you've documented the process pretty well!
Best,
Kimberly

Any update on this issue?

Yes it is - when it was written, the text in the feed was a mess of html, styles and another embedded video - I've not checked recently to see if they have improved things though.

Hello Barry,
Ah, so it's working the way it's supposed to be :)
Do you think you can find some time to check if it's improved?
Thanks,
Age

Hi, I am having the same issue, would really love to pull more than just the video into posts, at least the author and Description, although of course, the more the better.
I'm not sure if it will help, but perhaps take a look at the guts of the Automatic Youtube Video Posts plugin by Tern? I like Autoblog 100000x more for other reasons, but AYVP does manage to grab more data.

(I am moving the conversation over from this thread which I started some hours ago about the same issue which I closed and moved here.. http://premium.wpmudev.org/forums/topic/autoblog-youtube-doesnt-pull-content-fields#post-287189)

Greetings jolon,
Thank you for your feedback into this thread/ticket, it is certainly appreciated.
As the lead developer Barry indicated that this is indeed not an issue, this is the intended use therefore at best a feature request.
Do not get me wrong, I would personally love this feature as well, but to date and as of version 3.9.2 it has not been incorporated.
Hopefully Barry will see to it to add it on his to do list to incorporate into the plugin in a near future release.
Alternatively, you could see if there's a developer available at wpmu jobs who could get onto it right this minute.

Hi all!
I made a feauture request for this here
So jolon (and others) just give your vote overthere, that will help :)
Is the WPMU staff still monitoring UserVoice.com? Because some request which have the status open have become reality allready.
Greetings,
Age

Greetings Age,
Thank you for the additional input and it is appreciated as well.
I give my +100 here, the User Voice is restricted to new plugins and not feature requests.
And Barry does indeed have this eye balled as indicated above.

Greetings guys i give +100 for this feature, currently im just using google.com/reader and manually copying the text and the image from there, gave up on auto blog and have it deactivated, not using just for youtube but for all my feeds, if the developers could made a new plugin that just import from google.com/reader text and images that would be great!

Greetings elpino,
Thank you for the great perspective and suggestion - if the developers could made a new plugin that just import from google.com/reader text and images that would be great! - it is certainly appreciated.
+1 here.

Greetings DirectoryDude,
Now that is certainly another really great feature request!
Thank you for thinking of this regarding "Featured Image" from the video.
Cheers, Joe

I did find a work around to help us achieve thumbnails with auto blog and the YouTube add on as it stands now.
To create the featured image use this plugin
http://sutherlandboswell.com/projects/wordpress-video-thumbnails/
Still looking for a plugin to get You Tube Descriptions of videos imported or as they are imported.
Would love all these features in the auto blog and Can't wait to see what Barry comes up with, I'm sure it will be awesome
