I am looking for a plug in or application that will allow users to create their own avatar and save it in the buddypress data base and be their icon when logged in. I have found a couple, but they are either built in flash, or rely on a third party server to store the images. Any help is appreciated! If there is someone in the community who knows how to build one, I would be willing to pay.

Thank you for presenting this awesome question to the community and hopefully we will get some input from the many talented and resourceful members that we have within.
Though this ticket does not directly involve a question regarding our plugins or themes, I will certainly let this ticket float awhile to see if we can get some input here to the intriguing idea of a built in avatar creator.
Alternatively, you could see if there's a developer available at wpmu jobs who could get onto it right this minute.
