A year ago there was no manual payment gateway so we had to setup "another terrible" solution for our client. It has worked but it's been a nightmare!
Problem is it solves their need as many of their 200 members prefer to get an email notification their annual membership is due and they mail a check. The treasurer then deposits the check and manually extends their account for another year.
I see now there is a manual payment gateway and we can allow members to choose between manual payment and PayPal.
Question is are there reminders at 60 days, 30 days, 15 days before the membership expires.
When the membership expires I presume they are locked out or reduced to free and must pay to get back to the protected content?
I'd prefer to find a new solution so we don't go through another year of problems but I'd like to know if this is possible before we setup a development/test server?

For starters, well done on creating your own gateway!
The new manual payments gateway does not provide reminders, no.
As soon as their membership expires their account will be reduced to normal access until they either purchase or are granted access.

I am confused. Is there or isn't there a manual payment gateway for Membership? It doesn't show up in my add ons.
