Dear WMPUDEV,
I've set up multi site wordpress with subdirs.
I've set up the dns at the designated domain.
but when i enter the domain it doesnt seem to go to multisitedomain/subdir.
What have i done wrong?
http://www.wpbase.nl should go to http://www.wpgezogt.nl/twee but i get an error that the website doesnt excists.
and when i navigate to http://wpgezogt.nl/twee it now goes to http://wpgezogt.nl
p.s.
http://www.wpgezogt.nl/drie/
hasnt got a mapping and it does work

Vergezogt,
Hi and Welcome to WPMUdev forums :)
Domain mapping can be tricky, and it's usually reserved for mapping subdirectories/domians to top level domains. For example mapping: yourdomain.com/sitea to anotherdomain.com
If you are looking to redirect the visitor from one url to another then all you need to do is set up a redirect with your host. You don't need domain mapping for that.
When I try to visit either of the first two links it tells me there is a redirect that cannot be resolved. Are you mapping a site to a site? You can only map a domain to a site.
I hope this helps to clarify.
Best,
Kimberly

Hello Kimberly,
Thanks for the answer. The goal we're trying to achieve is to map yourdomain.com/siteb tot anotherdomain.com
But we don't seem to be able to achieve it.
What did we do wrong?
It looks like it's looping.
I created an a record on anotherdomain.com to the yourdomain.com/site server IP
And I used this plugin to map it but it looks like its looping.

Hello Kimberly,
We're struggling to get this fixed :)
you said :

We want wpgezogt.nl/twee to be mapped to wpbase.nl
so if a user navigates to wpbase.nl it should show wpgezogt.nl/twee (and if it's possible show wpbase.nl as a url)
That's possible with domain mapping right?
If yes why is it looping now then? :)

Just did some detailed support with @Vergezogt via the coding and plugins chat http://premium.wpmudev.org/live-support-plugins-and-code/?cid=511
I went through the subdir Multisite setup and was able to get this working on my local system with the domain mapping plugin setup. The final issue was found that the base domain wpbase.nl was not pointed to the same IP address as its sub-domains. So after some DNS work I think we finally have this resolved. The user was able to correct access the mapped domain. From my end I still get the 'too many redirect' error in my browser. Hopefully DNS propagation will solve this.
Just wanted to make some notes here.
