Hi !
Not yet totally aware with marketpress (now translating it, that helps me to understnd it well) but I did not see how to manage product vatiation. For example, size, colors, packs or mesures (for ex 1 liter, 500 Ml, etc) is it just not yet implemented ?

I know you are working on product variation but could I ask when this might become available?
Love the plugin but have a project that this is ideal for but not without the product variations so I may have to use an alternative plugin / system if you do not expect it to be ready anytime soon.
What's the good word ? :) Variations is the only thing that is needed to truly compete with the rest of the ecommerce plugins out there... thanks a ton for the great plugin!!
I'm there too. I moved from WP e-commerce because of the lousy support (support for MarketPress is excellent!) but my customer is screaming at me for variations.

@Aaron - do you by any chance have stock counters on your list?
This was a big issue for a recent site I worked on. They also needed stock by variation which no other plugin currently provides well enough (i.e. without a LOT of hard work for even the simplest of items).
Just wondering on an update to product variations? Seems this thread has gone a little off topic..
If you could update with a possible release date that would be great.
No rush but if you expect this to be weeks it would be good to know as I'll revert to WP ECommerce for the project I am working on. Not my first choice but it does the job.
Thanks guys, A great plugin but without variations it is not going to work for most projects. Looking forward to the variation version though I have to admit.
Yeah, product variations support is the only thing that's keeping me stuck with WP-eCommerce Plugin... Needing this asap, MarketPress is much better in all other ways...
Oops sorry its still early and I ran out of coffee this morning. I posted a whole new thread on this! :(
I'd love to know a rough estimate. I have a client and project that is raring to go but if I know this option is coming within the next couple of weeks, it might be worth the wait. If not, I can move on and come back when it's ready. Thanks!

No worries about the new post - I've deleted it to keep the place tidy ;)
We can't give exact timescales at the moment - we're working on a huge amount of new features across all our plugins at the moment, not to mention making sure they work with new versions of WordPress!
However, if you make sure to use update notifications you'll know when there's a new version available :)
Do you guys have any kind of Trac or Release Status page? That would be awesome. I understand about not giving exact dates. You tell people, then CrapHappens, then they blame you for not being on time. But something that would give us who use WP and plugins/themes for our clients, it would be very beneficial to know ourselves if we could get a general concept of a rough time estimate. Let's say, if it's not in the books for at least 4 weeks, I can plan for that. But I would SURE hate to give up on this plugin and move on, and spend a week building a project with something else, and then see the new update for this one with all the features I needed. It would break my poor lil heart! :P
And also, what are some other procedures folks are currently using to get around the lack of Variations? Setting up one product for each variation? Is there a way to add a spot for the Shopper to indicate the variation in the cart? Say something like "Click here to add to cart and then in the description box provided, tell us what size." etc.
Thanks Aaron! I totally understand. That's great to hear there's a dev on this. Personally I think I'd rather wait it out than use a different product. It will just be hard to sell the client...
Is there a way to create a "sub product" so to speak? That is really only available in the PRODUCT screen (say, using shortcodes?) So for example I create "Awesome Tshirt" and then I need Blue and Green so I create Awesome Blue Tshirt and Awesome Green Tshirt but they aren't available unless you are in the Awesome Tshirt screen... It might be a nightmare because I'm doing custom handmade lotions and soaps and each one has like 15-20 different scents its available in. I wish there was some way to "add a note" to the checkout/shopping cart process...
Sorry 'bout the bump on this but i'd also like to know where this is... I went with Marketpress since variations where coming real soon now even a couple of months ago.
I know you've got other awesome features going for 2.0 but is there a possibility of an "1.5" with just the variations added? That would be so freckin' awesome.... Seems there's a bunch of people lining up for this specific feature.
Again, don't feel jumped on.. just wanted to add my +1 for this feature.
I just started using Marketpress. Have the variations been released? I've got version 2.4.2. Can someone just direct me to where this option is. Thanks in advance.

It's next on the list. For now you have to create different products.

Any ideas on how to implement this? Maybe just using some of the "Lots of hooks added for plugins" in the latest release?
Lead Developer — 4th February 2011 (1 year ago) #
Already built in to MP.
We won't be doing stock by variation though, too complex for the first iteration.

Sure, that was my expectation. Run before walking 'n' all that ;)

Another vote here for making product variations a dev priority. Critical feature for a marketplace to be able to handle clothing.
Thanks, Aaron!

In this case you are luck though as I can confirm a dev is working fulltime on this and more awesome features as we speak!
For now you gotta create separate products.
