The latest version of GridPress has an error. It is not supporting custom background tag of wordpress...
In grid CSS there is this line:
#site-wrapper{background:#ffffff;}
This should be changed to transparent.

Could you please paste the error here? And elaborate on the problem?
I've just tested and the custom background seems to work well for me. I've attached some screenshots.

What chield theme are you using???
I am talking about the gridmarket and grid.css file.

Thats not a child theme, thats Gridmarket and the standard admin options for sticking a custom background in there.
